Anyone hear a click when you step on the brake pedal? It's within the inch or so of movement. It needs to be quiet to hear it. It's not related to the brake lights so I don't think it's a switch. It just started today and I've had the car for 5 days.

My PRIUS clicks at so many times, it's actually intriguing. I stopped the other day and had to wait in the car for 3 minutes, I'd POWERED OFF. There were at least a dozen almost inaudible clicks and whirrs of various frequencies within maybe 30 seconds. Then there were more coming occasionally after that time. And - suffering from Tinnitus, there were possibly some more outside my hearing range.

I've never got in slowly, but there are sounds which start when you approach or unlock the car, even before opening a door.

But I've never heard anything specifically to do with the brake.

I have not heard any brake click, keymusic. Now I'm curious, and will try it out tomorrow (with the radio off).

I'm like Alan, I find all the various "Star Wars" sounds to be very interesting. As he mentioned, it's funny how the car makes sounds before you even open the door. :) I also occasionally hear whirs and buzzes when I open the hood to check the oil.

I've heard it. No clue what is making the click. I have not tried to figure it out yet

Yes the car definetly makes lots of interesting sounds. Most of them are pretty cool sounding. Please post your findings about the brake pedal. It's very irritating and I don't think it's supposed to be there.

Do you hear it every time you press the brake or is it intermittent? Mine is every time.

Hi keymusic. I ran around for 3 hours this morning, and I never heard the brake pedal click on my 2016. Maybe another owner with a new 2017 will post their comments. I hope it's just normal, and nothing wrong with your car. Best of luck.

Mine is somewhat intermittent so I'm hoping it just goes away. I noticed that when the pedal is depressed and there is downward (towards the floor) pressure put on it I hear it. But if it's depressed with upward (towards the dash) pressure I don't hear it. That's easier to test out with your hand because with your foot you're generally always putting downward pressure on the pedal.

I just discovered that it's actually happening if I push the pedal to the left, not down. Here's a recording of the sound with me pushing it to the left 6 times. I'm hoping I could see what might be causing it but it might be up too high to get to. Dropbox - Pedal.m4a

Here's video evidence of me pushing the pedal to the left. Turn your sound up. :) Dropbox - File Nov 18, 11 22 13 AM.mov

Yeah, that is kind of strange. To have play in the brake pedal arm like that.

Good. I hope it's a simple fix. That's pretty weird.

I already have 3 recalls, and a Technical Service Bulletin issued for my 2016 Prius. And it's only 8 months old. I think they are all fairly minor, except maybe for the airbag. (I drove Camrys for 21 years, and only had one recall... and it turned out to be nothing.)

I haven't driven the Prius since Thursday. Next time I drive it I'll let you know.

After watching your video, I checked mine. Same deal, only clicks with slight leftward side load. Rightward side load or no side load, no clicking. It occurs in the the travel before the brake lights illuminate.

Good luck at the dealer. Curious to see what they do. The click doesn't really bother me.

After driving for five minutes, leave car running open your window. Be in quite place where you could listen that noise, when pressing your brakes. Car have to. Be near or over 50000km or so... Good luck

I re-checked my brake pedal today. No movement left or right. No play in the arm. No clicks. (Thankfully).

That's interesting that yours does the same thing. You're lucky it doesn't bother you, it REALLY bothers me. I'm hoping the dealer can fix it, but now I'm not as hopefully knowing that it might be "normal".
