I've been looking into buying a hybrid. My current vehicle only gets 12 mpg. I use it to tow a boat. Would it make sense to throw a Pius in the bed of my truck to drive around town once I get to the shore? Will it fit?

    LMHOROTF!

But then I thought why not? If you have a flat-bed sure, but you'd need a tilting bed. Then there are some folks who tow they're 5th wheels with a long-hauler crew cab, those bed's are certainly big enough.

Depending on what state you're in you can pull in tandem (sp), but my understanding is that you can't tow a Prius with the wheels down, but if you could you could pull truck => Prius => boat.

    Sure why not?

You do realize that the Prius isn't a little clown car, right? If you can "throw a Camry" into the the bed of your truck, then I guess you could "throw a Prius" in there just as easily. It would likely be easier, cheaper and better for everybody to toss a bicycle in the back. Scooter? But what the hell - if you can fit a Prius, go ahead and toss one in there. I'd like pictures!

Interestingly enough, I just saw a white one driving around town today. I couldn't see who was driving it, but it wasnt' towing anything.

How often do you tow ?
I personally rent trucks/7 passenger vehicles when the need arises.

we do the same thing we actually sold a buick regal and traded in a jeep GCL for the Prius and use MUNI whenever possible. the trade was eat out every Sunday and rent a vehicle to go to Tahoe (due to winter weather) and rent whenever I go out of town and my wife wants the car.
