Can anyone provide a CD with or a downloadable file with the Mini VCI driver for Techstream 10.10.018 or 10.20.030? Or ANY driver that is known to work with the J2534 cable?

So far, I bought 2 Mini VCI cables over a period of a month, and each time the driver that came on the CD had embedded Trojan viruses and my antivirus program caught them.

I even downloaded the driver alone from a couple of sites, and they too had the virus.

Any help or direction or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Just to be clear, the driver is for the cable and nothing to with TS, although once the driver is installed the cable is usable by TS. Maybe semantics, but clarity helps diagnosis if problems arise.
Out of interest, which file or files were quarantined by your virus checker?

Thanks for the reply. Do you have the USB driver software that provides the interface for the TS application?

Some of the "infections" are said to be false positives.
In any case, putting this on a cheap $50 xp laptop from Craigslist that is dedicated to techstream might be a possibility.

Unfortunately that image is of no help, as it does not display the complete file path (truncated after \toyot...). Can you make the left column wide enough to display the full file path name and then copy/paste that? Or could you click on the "more Info" link (as shown in your image) and screen capture that if it shows the file it suspects as a trojan rather than more info about the trojan.

    Backyardbill,

When I had a rootkit infection on one computer at work I tried AVG. I do not use it. I believe there are some false positives. Not sure if that is the case here, but you could confirm the infection with another antivirus...

Bitdefender can be installed gratis for 30 days. Has good ratings, what I'm using at home.

I'm going to get malwarebytes and see what that app finds. I will post back results.

It was so slow for me that I uninstalled it. More specifically the updates were very large and frequent. It also knocked out any internet connectivity when the firewall started after upgrading to Windows 10. (I bought a 3 yr subscription to their Small Business Security which I read somewhere is a no-no, security engine gets outdated). Gonna try Webroot soon. Heard good things about Kaspersky.

Update: Malwarebytes didn't find/detect virus that AVG found. So JzChen and dolj you were right about the false positives.

    So I installed:

    TIS 10.10.018
    MVCI Driver for TOYOTA.msi

Ran "Xhorse Firmware Update Tool 1.4.8", device info:

    Device SN: MVCI006000001
    Model: MVCI-HC
    Firmware: 1.4.1
    Dealer: 001
    Status: Connected

    Clicked "Online Update"
"unable to connect to the update server, bla, bla"
I guess the server no longer works or exists.

Plugged the cable into the gen2 Prius, fired up TIS:
The OBDII cable end module blinked red then green for several minutes, but no data was retrieved from the ECU's.

I read for countless hours and searched for other mfu update files for the cable that might work but came up empty handed.

    Any thoughts?

my AVG lite up like a Christmas tree the first time I installed it.
I just installed it on a cheap old laptop from craigs list and keep it off line...

Ok after thinking about what I have read that I should try multiple times to connect and read the ECU's. So

I hit start button, no brake pedal, and still not ECU's read.

I hit the start button and brake pedal, car in ready mode:
Voila, I read the engine ecu! Then the battery ECU, took 2 attempts and the data came through.

The the biggie, the TPMS. I got an error but didn't have time to record or print because I was late for work. I think it was "ID4".

Tonight I will try for the whole works.

Seems like that there are timing issures with the cable board.

Lastely, I don't have a TISkey for TIS 10.10.018, so I go into "EVAL" mode after 1st installing. Then on the next start of TIS 10.10.018
it nags me for a key.

You don't need a TISKEY or anything of that nature. If you are getting reg nags, you haven't done the install correctly. Did you update the IT3System initialisation file?
Yeah, the car needs to be in IG-ON or READY mode for TS to read the ECUs.

I had no problems, and actually just switched over to Bitdefender after doing the Win 10 upgrade last July. My previous usual Norton Internet Security was HOPELESS, would not stay running, tech support no help.

Yeah maybe depends on the system?
