The cup holders are misnamed as of course they are more like bottle holders, we often used to take a flask of tea in our old gen 2 and the cups fitted in the holders, however with the new gen 4 the cups fit in but the spring loaded grippers push them straight out.! I spotted a thread where someone had fitted inserts that allowed normal cups to sit inside but can't seem to find it. Has anyone found a solution or does everyone only use them for bottles?
Cup size.....sexist laugh (joke). I'd suggest you find a Toyota branded special cup (even with a lid) to utilize when you wish to drink in the car. (We do that with Mercedes.) Else, I'd try to be creative building some soft foam or Styrofoam inserts. Good luck in solving!
Thank you Kenny, I'll experiment and see what I can come up with, we only drink when parked up ,not on the move, we found our young Grandchildrens drink bottles fir perfectly so might try that and suck tea though a straw
what is so special about these cups? why not use a travel mug? I have a yeti tumbler that fits just fine. It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold
I found a big styrofoam cup at a nearby gas station that snugly fits. I just reuse that until I pass by the place again. I then stop in and throw the old cup away and get a new drink.
Did he recognize it? It was a favorite of my dad's, but I thought it was something he remembered from the Mel Brooks/Carl Reiner "2000 year old man" bits, which I've never been able to confirm. They did more than one "greatest invention" shtick, but I don't think that was in it. Here's somebody attributing it to Steve Martin ... in the form "how do it know?", which wasn't the way Dad remembered it. In that form, Google has a lot more hits, usually just saying it's really old (and according to more than one, originally had a racist setup, definitely not the way Dad remembered it, wouldn't have tickled him so much that way). Mysteries at every turn.... -Chap
Why, me of course! To be read in a Cockney accent: "Ye're roight, me old china." And once again for non-Brits, in cockney rhyming slang china is short for china plate = mate (buddy).
Travel coffee cups tend to have trouble when they get empty/light. You kind of have to work them in. But if you have a reusable cup (even more reason to use one) it seems to be just fine. Then again a piece of electrical tape would probably hold those size adjuster arms in.
