so recently got a used 2012 Prius 2 with 110,000 miles. The car has had a great service history on carfax for oil changes REGULARLY but nothing mentioned about other maintenance items I've seen. Assuming nothing has ever been done except for oil changes, at this mileage, what should I do? Brake fluid? Engine coolant? Inverter coolant? Spark plugs? Trans fluid? Timing belt? (Does it even use a belt?) None of the fluids look dirty, but that's not always an indicator of health. I've had the car sitting parked on a 40* day for 6 hours now and the engine coolant, inverter coolant, and brake fluid are all just at or just below the low lines. I don't really want Toyota doing it since I'll also be paying for their lounge and facility and can get the same service elsewhere. Last car was a 97 civic so much more stone-age tech than this, and the other car is a fire breathing track toy that is subject to totally different maintenance and driving. Looking at all the stuff under that tiny Prius hood makes me feel dumbfounded to some extent.
Brake fluid? Flush and lube pins Engine coolant? Drain and replace. Inverter coolant? Drain and replace. Spark plugs? Change. Trans fluid? Drain and replace. Timing belt? (Does it even use a belt?) No belt. Make some popcorn, sit back and watch all the NutzAboutBolts how to videos: Nutz About Bolts Prius Maintenance Videos | PriusChat
Is there a spreadsheet or anything that has condensed info on how much of what fluid and what OEM or OE plugs are? I don't have manuals. See a lot of various coolants and ATF fluids offered
major service is 120k. manuals are available on line. spark plugs, inverter and engine coolant iirc. inspect brakes and lube pins. some people like to change the brake and tranny fluid, they're not on toyota's list.
