just thought after 1 week of driving my Prius Prime Plus I'll add a few more of my impressions.

EV range: I'm now getting around 27 - 29 miles range, although that is with AC turned mostly off. With AC/heating on including heated seats on it was more in the range of 22 or 23 miles. This is with an outside temperature of 45 - 50 degrees F and set to 69 inside temp. to be considered also, that Seattle terrain is very hilly...and at this time of the year, there is usually water on the road :)

EV driving: absolutely LOVE it. Great acceleration, smooth as it can be and surely works for my day-to-day driving around town.

HV driving: I've been mostly driving in EV, however took a trip last night to Tacoma (35 miles away). The gas mileage I'm getting is simply amazing...and this is with Freeway driving...last night I got 68 mpg...and that wasn't doing a lot of hypermiling stuff. Speed was around 60 - 65 (around the speed limit).

EV-Auto: I put it in EV-Auto a couple of times, but frankly I couldn't tell the difference to EV...it stayed the whole time in EV...not sure what I need to do to have the HV come on...floor the pedal to the ground?

Charge Mode: I only used this once on my drive up from California while driving through the Redwoods area (very hilly)...gas mileage went down a bit, but was hard to tell what it would have been without the car being in Charge mode. It charged up pretty quickly.

Comfort: I'm 6'3 and am super comfy in the front seats. very nice side support as well as back support. In general it feels a lot more like my BMW that I used to have then my previous Gen 3 Prius.

Electronics: my gosh...now I have so many music options on the screen, hard to choose...from Pandora, to iheart, slacker, bluethooth, FM, XM...Navigation is OK, I'm used to Google, so it's a bit of an adjustment. Bluetooth/onboard phone calls are a huge improvement over the Gen3...super clear voice and everybody can hear me :) probably also because the cabin is a lot quieter.

Trunk/storage: never was an issue for me...and still isn't...plenty of room for my purposes

Charging: currently charging with the 110 cable + extension cord - works like a charm. Plug it into ChargePoint when I'm shopping or at work, there are so many charging stations everywhere in the Seattle area.....will upgrade to a 220 charge station in a few months. used the pre-heating a couple of times....works nicely as well ...just hit the A/C button from the living room 10 min before leaving...car is toasty warm :)

All in all, I couldn't be happier...love my new car!!

Why do you guys not like the softex? So far I like it better. I have it in my plugin and my regular Prius has leather. The softex seems better

It's hot as hell on a sunny day - hot enough to burn your skin. And it's slippery compared to cloth so you're always sliding around in your chair.

Leather is nice on a sofa, but it sucks in a car.

I agree with you. I live in Florida and prefer cloth but the softex is softer and more comfortable then leather. At least the leather I ha w in my other Prius.

The thermos might have been a North America thing, like the fuel bladder. It worked well; my Monday morning commute had noticably lower fuel economy than for the rest of the week. With the exhaust heat recovery system in the gen3, it became redundant.

Yes, but how hot does it have to be outside for you to notice that the A/C is taking longer to start blowing cold air? A heat pump should be blowing out warm air about as quickly as it takes to blow out cool air.

If it does take the heat pump to warm the cabin 4 to 5 minutes while preconditioning, keep in mind that heating from a cold engine will take longer idling than when driven.

I find the softex to be just fine. It's not slippery in Pearl S. I had "leather" in a Pathfinder (usually you only get cow hide in the centre panels and that was the case with the Pathfinder). It was slippery, and easy to damage.
I also don't find it hot or cold, though it can heat up in the summer, but I don't think it heats up as much as real leather. Mine is the 2012 version. Perhaps it's changed?
But I agree, good quality cloth (microfiber is really nice) is more comfortable. Doesn't smell as nice though. ;)
I wonder how they get the leather smell into the softex?

Thanks. I was thinking about microfiber seat covers over my Softex. Expensive though - ~$600 for the whole car.

Are you able to use Remote A/C on the fob to pre-heat the car if the car is not plugged in? (Given that it's below 50°F where you are)

Seattle, might I ask how you sit, and how you position the seat? I'm 6'2" and finding it uncomfortable, mostly because of the short seat cushion.

It could be a Bonded leather - Wikipedia, in which the better ones have enough leather material for a noticable scent, or it contains an artificial scent.

I measured the approximate dimensions of all the little storage places on the Prime. It's a whole bunch of pictures so if anyone is interested in one or two particular ones, I'll try to provide what I have.

Well, it's official. I am now the proud owner of Toyota Prius Prime Advanced. Blue Magnetism exterior with Moonstone interior. It's too dark out right now, but will post pics when daylight returns.:cool::cool:

So an update on the Prime Plus I ordered from my local dealership in Upstate SC...

They say that production in Japan has either ceased or suspended, although I cannot find this anywhere in the news at the moment. The dealership will now try to get me one of the dozen or so Primes currently on the east coast...

Has anyone else heard about this? If there are any updates or additional information from my dealership I'll post about it here.

Enjoy your new ride, Prius Cat! At any price, this is the most fantastic car. Give yourself time for a learning curve, especially on the Advance. You'll never be bored!
