I previously posted about problems with the touchscreen. My dealer applied a software update in August that appears to have fixed the freezing issue. It hasn't happened since. My only hesitation in declaring victory is that the problem did seem to be temperature related and we were moving into a cooler season. A friend who was having the same problem also reports that this fix appears to have solved it. So Toyota may have gotten this figured out....

I didn't read all 12 pages of this, but I had the screen freezing problems with my Prius v, took it to the dealer, had the software update, got a new head, got another box replaced. When it happened again, I had a brain flash from my days when I had a PDA (remember those?) that had a bezel that surrounded the screen. If dust/dirt got under that bezel, it put just enough pressure on the screen for it to register as a press, which means that no other press gets registered. To the user, it looks like the screen was frozen. The solution for the PDA was to run a business card around the screen edge under the bezel to clean out any dust/dirt and to separate the bezel from the screen. I did that on my screen and bingo! it's working again. Hasn't happened again since. As i said, I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe somebody already said that, but it's worth saying again. Sometimes the simple fixes are best!
