Just listed my Prius on cars.com yesterday for $2500. It has 257K miles.
Nothing wrong with it except that it has the original HV battery pack which could fail tomorrow or a year from now.
Never been in an accident. Burns about a quart every 2500 miles depending on how it's driven.
Small rust spots here and there. Only have three of the trim rings for the wheels - not being used right now.

Special discount for Priuschat members - 20% off the cars.com price!!!!!! :D

If you live in the Metro Detroit area or somewhere nearby and want your first (or another) Gen 2, check out my ad and contact me. Or you can PM me for more details if you'd like.

I"m selling it because my daughter needed a newer car to drive that she can take to University next year - even though Yoda has never needed a tow (yet) in the six years I've owned it.

I bought her a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage last week with 27K miles for $7200 out the door.
It was a Hertz rental. Seems to be in good shape and it still has some warranty left on it in case it isn't.
Looks like it will get low 40s mpg so not bad.

One thing I'm not going to do is fire sale my Prius so don't bother trying to low ball me. If I don't sell it within a couple hundred from the discounted price, I'll just put it in storage until one of my other cars gets totaled or needs a major repair.

Okay, lowered the price on cars.com to $1995 (to get some interest before winter charges in and really makes it challenging to sell a car) So, with your Priuschat discount, it's only $1595! This is a really good deal ladies and gents for a 12 year old Prius.

Just passed 257K miles today actually.

Operators are standing by to take your order. Call now!

    $7200 actually.

It was $6700 plus 6% MI sales tax and registration. Late Black Friday deal.
It has a CVT, pwr windows, pwr mirrors, keyless entry and locks, automatic climate control. Pretty nice for the price.
And only three cylinders taking 3 qts of oil and a 9 gallon fuel tank.

I'd take the car, but it's a bit too far of a drive for me.

No Calif emission though. How do you get around that?
Is the Gen 2 Prius 50 state EPA compliant?

Oh yeah, by the way, no DTCs or CEL on Yoda either.

Three inquiries since Monday - two scammers and one legitimate potential customer from Detroit who thought he was visiting the Priceline website or something.

I hate selling cars but it's a necessary evil since the stealership gets you both ways if you trade in. To my best recollection I've never traded in a car in even once. That's how penny pinching I am.

I'll eventually find a buyer. Selling in the winter is the worst time but I don't have to bother making the car sparkling clean - just clean enough for the buyer to see the body clearly which means going to the car wash after every snowfall. And we're supposed to get spanked with some this Sunday/Monday. Oh joy! As Stimpy says.

Well, I have a potential buyer coming from Milwaukee today. He saw my ad on Craigslist.

I'd say there is an excellent chance he will since he's taking Amtrak to Ann Arbor and would need to take the train back home if he doesn't.

In a way, I hope he doesn't because I'll miss Yoda (and Priuschat too).

Well no reason to discount it, he's not going to say no after the long train ride

It's already listed at a very good price. And we want you to stick around longer

Thanks JC. I do enjoy this little community. So maybe I'll stick around a while just like The Electric Me has. I really enjoyed his thread about the paint issue on his Gen 3. He goes into intricate detail on just about everything. And as a product analysis engineer, that appeals to me.

As to my sales price - Michigan has among the highest auto insurance premiums in the USA. With the addition of the Mirage that makes four cars to insure with only two drivers at the moment (my daughter has been car-less while living on campus this past semester). I know I'm taking a sizeable hit to unload Yoda quickly but more detail about the car insurance follows next.

I'm burning money with every week I keep my Prius. Michigan's car insurance is so high because there is unlimited medical coverage here and nowhere else but here. So liability and medical coverage is over 2/3 of the premium. I carry high collision deductibles just to keep the premium somewhat reasonable. If I lived in a state with lower premiums, I'd probably keep Yoda and drive it past the magical 299,999.

However, I have a two car garage so if I kept Yoda I'd be jockeying my cars around constantly which is a big hassle. Winter's worse of course because of the reasonably heavy amount of snow we get here so I would really hate to deal with that on top of everything else.

I should have sold Yoda in the summer or fall. But with my daughter off at University I had a big decision to make. Do I eventually invest in a new or rebuilt pack or not. I wouldn't want my girl to get stranded somewhere with a failed pack or something else. As some have pointed out, my Prius has lasted well beyond its design lifespan. I got my money's worth out of it so I have no regrets to unload it at a loss. It's something I felt I had to do at this juncture because I found the good deal on the Mirage.

This was the same scenario I faced when I sold my 06 a few months back. I was able to pick up a low mileage 05 really cheap, so I unloaded my 06 really cheap. It all works out.....pass on the savings

You missed out on a great deal, Priuschatters. Andy from Milwaukee, WI bought Yoda at 2 PM today (sob!!). He's on his way back as I write this - through a blizzard LOL!

    So, I'm Priusless again (wahhh!)

I might buy a Gen 5 someday or a perhaps a refreshed Gen 4 once Toyota Corporate wakes up to the fact that most Americans don't like the "styling" = gawd is it ugly! My apologies to any Gen 4 owner who reads this - JMHO.
