My 2008 Prius has over 130,000 miles. I have two problems.

    1) I see condensation in the housing unit of one of the headlights. Most of the issues are in the unit of the right turn signal. So it seems unimportant except this may mean some seal is broken. See attached. I think it happened several months ago. Do I need to get this fixed?

    2) I have problem opening the trunk door. It is stuck most of the time. I tried locking and unlocking it and it is completely stuck. I had this problem for a couple of years now. Usually locking and unlocking will do the trip but the other day it just would not budge. I don't know whether the cold weather has anything to do with it. I tried to see whether there is a button to pop open the truck door in the car but I couldn't find one. I assume there is none.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    1) You should get it fixed water in there can slowly ruin the chrome finish inside. And without that finish you don’t have any lights. But first just check the fitment of all the caps that you have to remove to change light bulbs. Headlight bulb first as that’s the one that you need to change the most often (unless you have DRL).

    2) There is a mechanical leaver in the trunk to open it if the system fails. Owner’s manual will tell you how to use it.
Locking and unlocking it won’t actually change anything while trying to open it as only difference between lock and unlock is coding. While locked if computer gets info from the switch it just ignores it.

If nothing happens when you try to push the rear door swish in the back door “handle” the switch is the most likely place for the problem. You can test it with multimeter and it’s not that complicated to replace. Or if you take it to somewhere it shouldn’t be expensive.

Another possibility is that the problem is in the latch.

I have had mine do the same. If I make the car ready it will open every time. I think it's time for a new 12v.
