Made the mistake of going window shopping at our local Lexus dealer and a 2015 300H had just been traded in. Had almost every option including all the safety stuff, remote start, rear shade, etc. It was a certified vehicle that I was able to negotiate the price close enough to what a loaded Prime would be even after the tax incentives that I thought I would make a mistake not putting it in my driveway. I hope this will be the right move as luxury is something I have never had before ...

Congrats!!!! You may catch yourself flirting with other motorists. haha
I had my 370k + 06 murdered by a drunk driver. The water pump went out at 330k it had 75% of the front brakes left after 120k miles. I can't prove the rears lasted 310k but I would bet they did. In addition during the 200k miles I owne the car I changed the serpentine, pcv, spark plugs, tires and oil changes that's it.
Like Funpilot I was ready to invest in another Prius. Changed my mind and went the opposite way of our friend and invested in a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage. It had 30K and 2years left. on its factory warranty and cost a couple grand more than a Prius battery. Plan on buying a series 2 with a few problems after the new year.

You sound almost as if you feel guilty in stating this. Why, you're entitled to indulge yourself and this car sounds like a heck of a good deal! That's why I'm thinking about a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid to succeed my Gen 3 Prius next year because, as you so well out it, "luxury is something I have never had before". No need to apologize for not buying that Prius Prime. Feel good, you now own a LEXUS! Hot damn, that is one NICE loaded luxury car!

Economical and not unattractive for such a low priced car but how is it to drive? I ask because the Mirage is one of Consumer Reports' lowest rated cars. Though I'd owned one of these 25 years ago (mine was an Eagle badged Summit sold through that now defunct Chrysler brand) and it was a decent, if austere small car, I'm curious about the current one. I don't take all CR states as gospel and can overlook much of what they complain about. By the way, what do you mean by "Plan on buying a series 2 with a few problems after the new year."?
