I don't see why turning the car off would affect MPG. If the ICE is warm, starting doesn't cause the ICE to start on my car. If the ICE is cold it does but the ICE would have been running anyway. Right?

I was actually referring to a poster above, that didn't want to disturb his daily trip mpg figures on the display.
Regarding the parking brake recall, I don't think I'm going to have mine fixed. I want to avoid the dealer as much as possible. They can't even do a simple oil change without fouling something up, were over filling it.

Yeah I found our Honda Dealership would read 3.2 liters (spec for 06 Civic Hybrid oil change with filter change) and say "yup, that means 4 liters". Same with the Prius: 4.2 liters: equals 5.0 for the knuckle dragging mechanic.

OTOH, our nearby dealership uses bulk oil dispenser and graduated pitchers. There is hope.

I still have done all my own, about 12 now.

My dealer did it while I was in for the 5000 mile service.

Mine did it at the 5K service. But I had to ask about it.

I got the notice last week and made my appointment for January 4th. While on the phone, they checked for other recalls and there are none for my car.

Got my notice yesterday as well but, since I don't use the dealer for service, I think I won't worry about it for a while. I'll take my chances and hope I never become a complete idiot and get ran over by my own car. Besides, you can't even open the door with your seat belt off without the car nagging you like a neurotic wife. No offense ladies:whistle:

I got this done a week ago with the 5K service. While I also do not understand why anyone would not put their vehicle in Park when exiting, the recall is free and I didn't figure it could hurt anything. It could help in extreme circumstances where I need the parking brake to be strong enough. I do use it whenever I park, but the transmission is in Park at that time anyway.

I got mine done this week. No problems and I was in and out in an hour. No charge of course but I did see on the paper work that the cost was $65. So far I trust the local dealer doing the work on the car, and they vacum the floor mats every time I went in. 3 times - This recall, the 6month, and I had a piece of metal in my tire that just needed to be patched.

    I have an off-topic question.
I apparently have a tire leak on my 2017 with no visible damage. Do you think this would be warranty?
I would hate to take in to a dealer for a repair that is more expensive than needed.

Not sure but I think it automatically goes into park when you turn the car off. At least my other Prius' did.

Exactly! That stupidity is also emphasized by the very first line item in the maintenance schedule, "check driver's floor mat".

Got my parking brake recall done yesterday during my 5K mile service. They also did an oil change (per my request) lube, tire rotation etc.

Total time at dealer: 90 minutes.
