Doesn't it boil down to what you want?
You've been driving and presumably have been happy with a 2007 Gen 2 Prius.

You'd be jumping 2 Generations forward.

But only YOU can determine whether you like the looks better. That's really up to you.
Most reviews I've read have returned that it's "sportier" to drive than past Prius. It has a independent rear beam suspension.

But really..."Fun to Drive" is also something that is going to be subjective to you. I wouldn't imagine any way it could be "less" fun to drive than a 2007 Prius.

As far as "Admiring comments on it's looks from others"....

    Who Cares?

I've liked Prius all along. From the often maligned "geeky" looks of Gen 2....to today. And with ANY vehicle I own, I only care whether I like the looks. Whether it garners admiring comments from others is IMO not even a valid criteria.

Test drive one...walk around it...if you like it? Make the move.

I'd like this comment 17,000 times if I could.

If you gain happiness from the admiring looks from strangers at a car your bought and had no part in designing, well then you have some serious issues.

Welllllll, they gave me $6,700 for my old prius after paying what I owed on it which was $5,200. Then they took 1000 off the MSRP of the Advanced Prime, so from 34, 550 to 33,550 and the money I got for my trade. And I put 3000 down. So, I ended up leaving owing 28,000 and some change on my brand new, blue magnetism car with the all black leather interior, and every feature you can get. Meanwhile, they lost close to 30,000 because of what they traded to get it here! But they treated me really well!

My old prius was a 2010 but I owed 5200 which they paid for me, then afterwards they gave me the 6700 for the trade in!

I just turned 21 and bought the Prime so I feel you on being the youngest ones here! But before this I had a 2008 and 2010 prius so 3 different generations now!

kmlipps and CaliforniaPrius, thanks for the info on your trade-ins. I guess $6500 for a 2009 sounds pretty reasonable. On the one hand, it's low mileage, having just crossed 50,000. On the other hand, I was rear-ended shortly after I bought it.

If I'm understanding it correctly, they gave him $11,900, of which they paid $5,200 to remove the lien on the 2010 and the remainder was paid out to him (the $6,700)

50,000 miles is low. I have 80,000 miles on mine and I'm expecting more than $6,500 CAD.

Wow that seems a bit low because my 2010 was at 100,000 miles with what they offered me

The old prius' windshield has two big cracks of ~10 inches each. Some scratches on the sides. Tire of 100K. In the end a 07 prius trade in only renders $2500
