Well at 9:30 PM with an outside temperature of 12 degrees (so it says on the dashboard) 9 degrees on my phone weather report. I tried Max heat both defrosters on. didn't work first time. Logged out/logged back in and it appeared to work so I closed the flap on my phone, headed for the elevator, then got a message on my Galaxy Gear watch that Remote Climate failed, please try again. When I got ou to the car it looked like the rear window was partially defrosted. So, what gives? Do I have to stare at my phone the whole ten minutes for the remote climate to work??????:eek::rolleyes:

well apparently you do have to have your phone open to the Remote Climate App. Because I tried it again last night This time I kept the App open. I had to enter my pin on three separate occasions. It seemed ro finish the warm up after ten minutes. I didn't go outside to check though.

I turned min one and then closed my phone and when I reached the car it was still working 9 minutes later. I actually started it from a train station about 3 miles from the car and when I arrived the car was still working at it. ECO Dashboard is still broken for me, every time I try to open it the app crashes. I am not sure why this happens but I opened a support ticket so hopefully it is a software issue in the car that can be corrected with a update there. Since it happens on two different phones I don't think it is a phone issue. Others have mentioned using the ECO Dashboard so I think it generally works.

Too cold? App doesn't start the engine does it? So this is just using the heatpump which is only rated down to 14f. App needs to tell us why it failed, network error, tempeture out of range, that sort of thing. Not sure I'd want to be able to fire the engine from out of town anyway. Probably start it up in a garage instead of turning on the charger.

Battery temp to low? Pluged-in with to battery heater set to on?

Just came back from outside my car, logged out/ logged back in to Entune. Set Remote Climate to max heat, both defrosters on. While observing the progress of the app. I had to enter my pin on three separate occasions, I heard a fan running near the front of the car, wasn't loud enough to be engine noise and no observation of tailpipe exhaust. When Remote Climate was finished I got into the car and found the inside of the car to be warm. I saw no evidence that the defrosters were working (windows didn't need defrosting anyway):D

Update: just noticed after successfully (relatively speaking) warming my car remotely I got a notice on my smartwatch the Remote Climate was not successful please try again. (could be that it was partially successful no defrost but did warm car)

Well hopefully Toyota or @Prius Team is keeping track of the issues or complications with the Entune smartphone apps.

I have the Prius Prime Advanced. When I first tried using the Remote Climate Entune app on my iPhone 6 plus it would not work. I called Toyota, they would do something on their end and have me try it (no success), then they asked me to lock the car doors (no success), then they had me logout of the Entune app and log back in and try it (no success), they also had me pull the car out of my garage and try it (no success). While I was on hold with Toyota, I started trying some things on my own. I went into the Settings in the Entune app, then clicked on Set Service Level, the service level All was selected and I clicked on Save and then clicked on Agree. I then tried the Remote Climate and it worked. That was about a week ago and I have not tried it again until tonight. Tonight it failed. Then I locked the car doors, closed the Entune app and restarted it, then tried the Remote Climate and it worked. I am not sure if any of this info is helpful, but this has been my experience so far. The Remote Climate seems to be a very unreliable feature.

Have you tried Max Heat with both defrosters on? I tried that and the best I could get (even though both defrosters and max heat showed up on the app.) was a warm car, no indication that the defrosters came on, also I noticed that the app will request that you enter your pin on three separate occasions during the 10 minute time that Climate Control was on.

This is what German Toyota website says about the new heat pump :

Thanks to the new developed heat pump system, the air condition works independently of the ice in EV-mode and can provide the climate of your choice within seconds !!!
Actually that's the way I was expecting it to work but judging from the comments I read here so far concerning the system,Toyota seems to be totally exaggerating !

Unless they put a furnace in your face or dump ice on you, the cabin won't heat up/cool down "within seconds".

Are you sure what they mean is that it *starts* blowing out air at your preferred temperature within seconds?

Here is the original sentence :

"Denn dank des neu entwickelten Wärmepumpsystems kann das System unabhängig vom Motor im Elektromodus betrieben werden und innerhalb von Sekunden ihr Wunschklima bereitstellen."

I wasn't expecting miracles but I was expecting it to be way faster than warming up the car with the ice !
Electric cars should warm the cabin pretty fast, the new Ioniq Electric warms up the cabin to a very cosy level within just 2 or 3 minutes, and that's the way it should be !

I wasn't doubting your translation - I was questioning the way marketing wrote that sentence.

That's why I wrote it down in German .
There is no way to misinterpreted the sentence.
    They are obviously exaggerating!
