I have a 2007 Prius key fob with the chrome toyota logo on the back. My key works to turn on the car as long as it is in the car, but if you put it in the slot, the car will not turn on. I'm not sure if it has always been this way or not since we never put it in the slot - only realized it when a mechanic couldn't get the car to start a few years ago.

My husband recently lost his key and I was looking to reprogram a new key for him but realized the slot would need to recognize my key for that to work. So, any ideas on if/what I can do to get my key to work in the slot?

I have this same exact problem. Were you able to find a solution?

    Please help!

If you have a working keyfob, you can just copy it. If you only have 1 keyfob, then you'll need to reprogram the key to the car with a reseed. That will erase all the keys and then add again
