so I've been told by the dealership that the 05 does not come with the camera. There is a place for it. Just wondering if all the wiring is there, and if I get one off of another vehicle if it would just plug in and work. Just trying to get all options that I can on the car. Just bought the car two weeks ago.

Please, what are the options available to add a back up camera to an 05? Will the nav- head unit accommodate an add on b/u?

There was an expensive interface that would allow an add-on camera to be added to your existing MFD (Search for "Lockpick"), You can change the MFD to a 2006 or later and do a bunch of work and rewiring and use either an add-in camera or the OEM Look here: Wires connection of back-up camera to MFD !!! at the work @DangNabbit and @OBJUAN are doing), but the easiest would be to replace the radio with a modern one with a screen, and get a license-plate add on camera.

Just buy an aftermarket camera and/(or not) screen, the OEM camera on the gen 2 prius sucks when it comes to quality, same does the gen 3, u will get both a wider lens, higher FPS and better overall quality with aftermarket even if u buy one for just 8 dollars.

Even though there is a "place" for the camera, the cutout in the sheet metal is missing AND there is no wiring. If you have 2004 or 2005 with navigation, the MFD uses RGB video, all of the cameras are composite video.
