    They don't cover labor. They just sell the parts. I did all the work myself. I am getting really efficient...lol.

    That's fine for us DIY types but for many (most?) others having to pay labor each time (especially dealer rates) this could get very expensive.

    Does DIY install of a new Toyota battery drop the warranty from 3 years to one? What with the (north of $1000) labour charge dealerships are asking, I don't see Toyota winning popularity contests.

    I got the triangle of death. My Scanguage was reading, P0A80, P0319, and P0320. The SOC of the HV battery was fluctuating from 30 percent to 100 percent. It went on limp mode a few times and the battery fan was constantly on. About the warranty, I would imagine it would reset itself. If not, I would still be happy if it lasted 2.5 years from now. Also, NAPA had another alternative to the Doorman battery. It is $200 cheaper--don't recall the company rebuilding that one.

    Seems odd to have two blocks have bad readings. Good to have a datapoint on failures.

    The other company is likely CarDone.

    Toyota drops the Warranty from 3 years to 1 year whenever it is done outside of Toyota.
    Even for a shop like mine that specializes in hybrids, they still drop the warranty to 1 year. Ironic since I likely install more batteries than some of their techs.
    I sometimes joke about "extending" the warranty from 1 year to 3 years, if they just pay an amount close to what the dealers get for installation. :)
    There is no way a Toyota battery with new cells will fail in 3 years for a consumer-driven vehicle. (ie not a taxicab)

    Is there a mileage component to the warranty, and if so how does it vary, with the 3 year vs 1 year interval?

    I believe the standard warranty on all replacement parts is one year unlimited miles.

    Update: got a few thousand miles on the new replacement battery. Went to Vegas twice from Los Angeles county. This battery hangs on to its charge. Was able to climb hills going to Vegas at 65mph for the first time in recent memory. The HV battery would not drop to less than 49 percent. SOC of battery likes to hang at 58-60%. Very happy so far...will keep you posted.

    Update: the little tank is @ 415k. So the 2nd battery has about 39k on it. Battery seems to be a stud. Here's a toast to a new year and 500k...

    Update: Hey guys, just got another replacement...under warranty. Love NAPA. The 2nd replacement lasted about 2 years--70kish or so on it. Got your typical HV codes. FYI...the HV batteries now only carry a 1 year warranty; it also cost more. My car has 450k on it.
