Unless you're going at warp speed, that's not likely damage from a pebble. Something bigger would have caused a larger damage as well. That looks like parking lot damage to me. At least $3000 for a new bumper and installation.
It's like a pebble pinhole... I'm very safe when parking and haven't felt or heard anything hit the front... in all honesty I have no idea how or when it happened... just saw it yesterday... Also, this is right next to the front license plate bracket so if it was parking lot damage I would assume that there would be more damage? iPhone ?
I'm assuming someone else hit you while you were away. And yeah, I'm thinking it's the license plate bracket corner in a taller truck of SUV that accidentally bumper into your car from the front.
Hopefully that is one of the 3 pieces of the bumper so it'll be a simpler (and cheaper) replacement. If that's a pebble, there's gonna be a lot of repairs coming up next winter when more people get their cars. Plenty of areas use sand during the winter for traction (cause salt doesn't work when it's well below freezing). The front of my car looks like an orange from all the pebbles that were sprayed up by the cars in front of me.
Check in behind? I'm idly thinking you're going to find a bullet lodged in the AC radiator. Sadly, you're likely right. But there's really something wrong/absurd with this "bumper" situation. I'm kinda glad to be in the sunset stage of this game called cars.
The Bumper doesn't need to be replaced entirely, just the damaged part of it . The Bumper of the Prime is made out of 3 parts. The two side parts and the middle section.
I park in my garage in one of the safest cities in America so if that happened it was random while out shopping... lol... iPhone ?
This is just terrible...all the Primes having these kinds of damage. If I ever get mine it will be wrapped in bubble wrap. Might make seeing around me hard but what are you going to do?
If you have insurance, it shouldn't cost you anything but your deductible. That looks like a hole from a BB gun. You have no idea when it occurred? it could've happened anywhere you parked. Regardless of what supposedly "safe" city you live in. There was a story on the news fairly recently, guys were shooting at cars with BB guns in some of the better areas of Los Angeles county. It can happen anywhere.
Micrometeorite? Youtube EEVblog guy in Aussie had one hit a solar panel on his roof. BB size hole shattered the whole panel. Hitchball mount could do that too. and way more likely than the above.
lol. Take mirrors for example They used to be just a piece of glass in a plastic housing no bigger than some portable navigation systems. then they came with remote control functions so that you don't get fingerprints all over the glass (once the housing became a permanent fixture rather than a movable one). Then came power remote controls so that you can adjust the passenger side without a second person (or going back and forth between the driver's seat and the mirror) Then came power folding mirrors Then came a heating function Then puddle lights Then indicators/turn signals Then BSM camera (Volvo - BLIS) followed by curb cameras (pinhole camera at the bottom of the mirror) on Toyota/Lexus models, followed by Honda's LaneWatch
I'm no expert, but it looks like a pellet gun or something like that. I've had my share of road debry hitting my front bumpers, everything from screwdrivers, crow bars, wrenches and glass bottles. None of them left such an exact circular shaped hole. That is what is grabbing the attention of all of us. The whole is perfectly round.
