I put in an order for a prius a couple of weeks ago, and the dealer told me the wait is probably a year or more. That actually works OK for me since my current car is 2 years old and I usually keep them for 3 years.

But the more I read about the prius, the sooner i want one. And from what I have been reading on here, maybe i went to the wrong dealer.

Any folks out there have ideas on how realistic that is, or suggestions on who to contact to cut that wait down to a more reasonable time?

You need to go somewhere else. A factory order is only 6-8 weeks

I'd guesss there is a bump in demand in LI because of the recent HOV approval. Shopping across the bay might be much easier.

Yes go else where... in fact... I found this little morsel in my email tonight (for shame I just received my Prius last week...) I know of a few local dealers (Michigan) who have a few in stock right now.

A local dealer is having an employee pricing for everyone event plus scratch ticket things for an extra 100 to 500 off... and doesn't list any exclusions! It looks to be a nice way to save a few dollars...

Uh, anybody notice that the original post is more than 2 years old?
