So today I took a radical turn from owning only sports cars (mr2 turbos, miatas, masdaspeed miatas, mustangs, and so on) to buying a 2017 prius 2 today.
I'm very happy so far. when i first got in the car i thought "oh man, this looks like the future!" then i thought, "you know what? this reminds me of the movie demolition man. i can't wait to be encased in foam!"
i said this to a friend of mine who owns a prius as well but he just laughed and assured me that the car would never drive fast enough to need emergency foam encasement.

at any rate, i am positively optimistic that this car will not erode my soul and that i will not wind up trading this thing in for a new hard top miata or boxter s.

here's to a new chapter in my driving life and here's to a brand new driving family. cheers!

ps. the new car is a black prius 2 with cloth interior (leather is just too dang hot in the FL sun) pics coming soon

Congratulations - hope you enjoy it - sounds like you REALLY wanted the version with the Flux Capacitor & light sabre indicators?

I checked out some similar cars - Mustang and Miata (called MX5 here) - but I could get into and out of the PRIUS much easier at my age.

One of my mates reckoned I should have named mine R2D3, but I settled with Samantha.

Congrats, I also went from owning a built 400HP evox to a Prius. Much happier with the practicality and not having to fill up my car twice a week, and the crazy maintenance cost. Keeping the Prius as my DD until the wheels fall off lol

Congrats and welcome to PriusChat! Here, you'll find tons of info dating back to 2003. Awesome forum.

The black color is so awesome! Those pearl flakes in the paint really make that color.

I went for the Hypersonic Red / cloth harvest beige interior. In my opinion, it gives it a classy "two-tone" look and doesn't get so hot in the summer.

I got the chrome rear bumper protector, 3M clear bra full mask, and I have a cute plush Toad from Mario resting in my storage tray. I want to add the door moldings too and illuminated door sills.
