I have noticed on my GPS screen that what appears to be green leaves or green plants being located on the screen at various locations that I have been before. It isn't at just locations, but also intersections I have been to. I was wondering if anyone else has seen these and what they mean or are for? I was told that they were possibly charging stations, but I know that isn't the case because they are at intersections. I could use some understanding on this please.

What shape are these leaves and have you been to Colorado lately?

I'm guessing your turned on one of the POI icons by mistake. Could be the Park one.

This is the Predictive Efficient Drive feature. The car will remember locations based on where you drive. As you approach these green leaf markers, the markers will turn into a bigger leaf indicating to decelerate as you approach the stop sign or traffic signal. If you're multi-information display is on the Hybrid System Indicator screen, and that blue bar acceleration guide is active (blue bar that appears when you accelerate), you'll notice that this bar will automatically retract as you approach the green leaf markers, indicating to decelerate and recoup as much energy as possible.

It's a cool feature, and has memorized my commute. But I think sometimes the deceleration guide acts too early...or maybe that's just me not used to slowing down so far from the actual stop ;)

That's what I was looking for in my other thread on this feature. I tend to coast a bit coming up to a stop but only if nobody is behind me ... Or they're tailgating.

How far from the stop does it indicate you should start coasting?

It varies, maybe because of speed, but usually 400' or so? I'm not very good at measuring distances. It has been helpful in some instances, and it definitely reduces the need to brake so hard if you follow the deceleration guidance (not the leaves on the navigation map, but the blue bar on the hybrid system indicator). This, combined with Eco Drive Mode, makes for a very smooth ride in city driving.

As far as regeneration of energy, sometimes I feel like I could recoup more energy if I brake harder, rather than coast to a stop. Is there any truth to that?

    G'day,

When my Prius c's SatNav knows where it is  (can take a while for it to find enough satellites around where I live), there are some complex intersections where the display brings up some lowish res. CGI graphics showing what should be the view through the windscreen. Possibly where overpasses are also involved?

Only lasts for a few seconds - once past the location, the normal map view returns.

I'm aware of two locations so far, generally these being reported by my passenger who has time to watch the display - I'm watching the real world through the windscreen (most of the time).

Log your 'greenery' experiences and see if they happen at the same places.

No doubt, some new Hungarian magic as they seem the world experts in turning GPS data into road navigation. My old GPS car SatNav unit and the Toyota supplied SatNav note their licensing of Hungarian know-how. So it's not just Rubik's Cube in their trophy cabinet.

It's Predictive Efficient Driving. Starts on Page 213 of the 11.6" Nav Owner's Manual

Does the voice navigation give you this information so that you can keep your eyes on the road? I sure hope so because constantly staring at the Nav screen watching for leaves, and then waiting for the exact moment when they sprout, just doesn't seem safe. No more than it would be to use the Nav screen to play Pokémon Go

There's no alert from voice navigation. But if you're on the hybrid system indicator screen on the multi-information display, the blue bar will retract as you approach one of the memorized locations. This indicates to begin your deceleration (release the gas pedal). Much better since the MID is in the periphery vision when watching the road. So you really don't need to look at the navigation screen, although the leaves are hard to miss.

Thank you everyone for the information. I apparently missed it in the manual. That is a neat feature to have though!! Hope everyone is doing well with their Prius Prime driving! If you use the Prime apps on the Entune app on your phone, look me up! My label is #1 in Easley, SC.

I know. I can only charge at home and have about a 42 miles round trip a day. I have been trying to drive as eco as I can in Hybrid Mode after I loose my charge. I have been drive in EV mode at times after I use my charge which helps stretch the gas usage too.

Yea. I have been thinking of that. I really don't need a charging station. Just an outlet will work. I still have my original full tank of gas since I bought the car on December 3rd. Still have about 160 miles until empty. It will be over 2 months before I see a gas station. Ironically I got the first Prime for our local dealership and they said it is hard to order a Prime in the Southeast Region for some reason. They got the car on their lot on the 2nd. I saw they got it and bought it on the 3rd. They were complaining that I bought it so quickly. I told them to pay my payments and I will let them show it off in their showroom! LOL
