I had a gen 2. LOVED IT!!! Got in an accident and it was totaled. I just got the 2017 and it's awesome. Though I have yet to turn off the annoying safety beeps, like my 2007 it's a fun car to drive! It took some time to get used to the looks, but everything really makes sense, especially in night driving!

Don't be a hate! Embrace the love of an efficient vehicle that doesn't conform to every other car on the market!

If I think back to the then "new" models of mainstream cars whose sheet metal seemed so attractive when they first came out, my list would be embarrassing.

It would probably include the Dodge Dart and the Sonata that went from a squarish box to one with all the curves.

But the thing of it is, just a few years after they were introduced, the design of those once admired cars not only falls flat (like so many), they became as invisible on the road as a 60 year old guy is to group of coeds getting coffee at Starbucks.

My 2016 Prius will never share that sad fate. It's one for the ages.

I am just sorry I didn't get the hypersonic red :).

Since you do not have touch screen controls to what are you referring? No HUD?

Same here, as well people want to know more about the hybrid system than anything else, and I received many compliments so far.

Yup! Same here. Lots of compliments and questions from friends. One friend even went and bought one (LOVES it) and another wants to as soon as he can swing it.

I also see lots and lots of rude driving, but I'm not so sure it's because of the car I'm in. I think maybe we need to put the lead back in paint. Something seems to have happened to remove a sizeable portion of intelligence about the time they got serious about lead in paint.

The 2017 Four looks wonderful to us. It did take a few months after we first saw it to bring one home and really appreciate the new design; the upgraded features from our 2012 and 2013 are fantastic. We feel much safer on the road! The Four base model is about 30K, and it is possible to make a cash offer of 25K and drive one home. No need to buy the upgraded packages nor the window tint from the dealer. Our 2017 drives like a dream! And cost out the door less than our 2012 and 2013.

So, that means Toyota should get rid of the big black grille. The recently announced 2018 Camry still has it, though.

    Do you mean this look:

    upload_2017-1-18_6-47-50.png

They are in the "irrational exuberance" phase methinks.

What happened to aerodynamics, or is that passe? (n)

It's an attempt at aggressiveness, although most of the American automotive press has also been complaining about the Lexus and now Toyota front ends.

In any case, most of that will have no effect on aerodynamics - all but what's actually needed is blocked off.

That is one of the reasons I am not driving a 2017 Corolla or Camry, but a 2017 Prius.

Yeah, that's an odd but very real phenomena. There's more than a few bikes with faux gas tanks, for example.

    (Hmm, real fakery...)

Although, the fake tanks are sometimes functional - the Honda NC700 family's fake tank is useful storage IIRC.

i thought the prime front end aero was really bad, and i guess it is a little, but it seems better in person.
