I gather that the Prius Prime Advanced headlights have automatic high and low beams. Am I understanding correctly that it also has automatic headlights on and off?
Also has auto high beams. Make sure the light stick is pushed in towards the dash to enable. You'll see an icon appear showing auto high beams. This feature works well Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The AUTO position illuminates the low beams at reduced intensity for daytime running lights. You do not have manual control of high beams in any switch position. If the system wants them on you can switch them HI or LO. If the system wants them on low, such as below certain speeds, you cannot switch them to HI.
What? You can have the high beams on manually any time you want. 1. Ensure your headlight stalk is in the "ON"/headlight position 2. Ensure your headlight stalk is pushed away from you towards the dash 3. Ensure that "Auto High Beam" is not enabled (check the AHB button on the left side of the dash).
I was driving on a side street next to the freeway last night. All of a sudden my automatic high beams turned on for a few seconds. I was confused and asked my wife did my high beams just turned on or I saw things? She wasn't sure then a few seconds later AHB turned on again this time I noticed high beam icon on the dash board lighted up. I think I am going to turn AHB off.
Aw come on, it's just looking out for you!. You, like me, live in a highly lit up place, so the poor AHP rarely can react. But you gotta admit, it's kinda fun to see all this technology working! Take a jaunt out to the hills, or to a rural, darker area and enjoy that technology! . In the meantime, you've always got the OFF switch ! .
Apparently this isn't on the Plus trim. I looked, and my light level stick doesn't have an AUTO setting (has lights, DRL, etc but not AUTO click setting like shown in the manual page you posted). In fact, one strange thing (coming from a Honda where the DRLs are always on) -- on the Prime, you have to move the position switch to DRL if you want DRL, otherwise the DRLs are always off. I generally prefer the DRLs to be on, which makes it weird after using the "regular" lights, when I'm finished, I can't just turn the settling lever all the way back until it stops (that would be OFF -- in which case the DRLs won't come on next time) but rather just one click back to DRL. Have to get used to that. But as far as the auto lights... seems to be a Premium/Advanced thing, not a Plus thing. So that feature pretty much means that if you take the car out and it's dark, the car will sense it's dark and turn on the regular headlights?
Einstein will roll over in his grave and fart. You're supposed to infinitely increase your mass as you approach the speed of light, so your car's suspension will crap out and you'll have to buy a new one!! . Oh and your EV-only mileage will really SUCK!!. Oh and officer Jones with the CHP, will give you a big fat ticket, and a stern warning!. On the other hand, Formula 1 participants would want to take a look at your car, and discuss a possible contract??!! Har, har. .
Yep and if you are in a tunnel they'll also go on automatically after a few seconds. Nice little feature.
I have the Advanced. It has positions for OFF and AUTO next to one another. I leave it in AUTO, so when car is running in daylight, Daytime (total of 4 headlights) are on. When it's dark, eight headlights turn on. With the Highbeam Auto feature turned on, when several conditions are met, Hi beams come on automatically and are dimmed as appropriate! It rocks! .
I love it when I drive into my condo garage and my headlights automatically go on and my screen switches to night mode. Magic!
Similar for me when I enter the garage at work. Love the automatic rain-sensing wipers too! iPhone ? Pro
Yea i love how the 11” screen turns to night mode automatically, I watched a youtube video where the guys has to turn to night mode manually, so when I got my car and it was auto switched....I was like “Magic”
The magical has worn off for me. I find that the sensitivity for going into night mode is way too high. It goes into night mode when the ambient light is dim (but not dark) and I can’t read the night screen in that light.
