2012 Prius v brake inspection

    I'm hearing squeaking from my brakes first thing in the morning especially when backing up. Is there a quick and easy way to do brake inspection without having to remove the wheels? Also, are there known brake issues with the 2012 Prius V?

    Our regular Prius is a little bit squeaking, when backing out of the garage first thing. I can hear it better if I'm outside the car, it's my wife heading off. Seems to emanate from the rear brakes, just for a few seconds and I'd put down to resonance, nothing wrong with the car.

    That said, a regular brake inspection is a good idea, is mandated in the US schedule, every 30,000 miles or 36 months (whichever comes first). Check page 39 of your Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. This is an in-depth inspection, not the visual inspection mandated every 5,000 miles or 6 months (basically a look over when the tires are rotated).
