Please help find an affordable list of Prius Prime compatable OBDII scanners that will allow customization of the following:

1). Reverse back up signal: single
2). Seat belt signal synced to vehicle speed: off
3). Changing lane signal: 5-7 seconds

Dealer wants $$$. I'd rather invest in a <$60 OBDII tool but not sure what is 1) compatible with Prime and 2) what just clears codes vs allowing access to customize features.

No product list like this yet on forum or online for Prime, please help!

    Have a great day!

Strange that the dealer is so ungrateful for the huge pile of money you just dropped on him.

I have never heard of anything as effective over the whole range of Toyota hybrid codes as their Techstream software. There are inexpensive versions you can get with the Mini VCI adapter but, afaik, they are not the latest version because they are pirated so might not be capable of dealing with new codes the Prime might have. On the other hand, Toyota is incredibly proud of their software and it's out of the question for anyone but a repair shop to pay that much unless they're rolling in money they can't wait to spend. I would love to buy their software directly, but can't at their "It's not for sale" price.

Hopefully, one of our "Primers" knows more and will soon have a better or idea or at least a more definitive answer.

I would definitely be interested in this too. I've used Torque Pro on an Android phone paired with a bluetooth OBDII adapter which worked brilliantly for finding some obscure sensors on a Kia Soul. Transmission temperature and torque converter lockup were particularly useful.

A quick search on adapters and Techstream brings up a lot of hits so hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will explore some options and report back.

I'm sure this works with Prius Prime as well as it is just another prius:
It's called the Carista app. You download it on your phone. You also buy a cheap OBD adapter on amazon.

We have it for our 2016 RX and I was able to change tons of things the dealer could only change. There are different pricing plans to help which makes it alot cheaper in the long run. You can see everything to change for free and it also allows you to change some things.

    I purchased this one:

Make sure you get the correct one for IOS and android.

Thank you so much everyone. I've reached out to Carista official support channels to confirm 100% if their hardware and software is compatible with our new Primes. I'm excited; this looks like a great solution, especially with their free 'pro version' access to the app for 30 days w/purchase of the $40 hardware. Excellent price and very reputable company!

As soon as I receive a reply I will post on this thread. If we find a solution, please help share this thread with new Prime owners. Perhaps other Primers may have an interest in self-customizing options described on pg 737-ish in the owner's manual.

LOL, I'm here to report back and reply to my own post after doing some more exploring...

I successfully changed the backup signal to one beep with a bluetooth ELM 327 OBDII adapter (BAFX version) and an Android phone with the help of the free "Prius Tweak" software from the Google Play store. The software is super simple, it just provides some toggles for backup beep and seat belts. I only tested the backup beep toggle and it worked! Even though the software says for the Gen 3 Prius, it worked for me. So nice to get rid of that incessant beeping while backing up. : )

I also used a few of the self customizing options from page 732 in the manual which pretty much covered everything else I wanted to change so I'm set now.

Pic of Prius Tweak software below:

I look forward to the Amazon delivery, thank you for the update! Would you mind testing the seatbelt warning beep customization using your set-up?

Or talk to the sales manager or dealership owner.
Treating a new customer that way should be a crime.

The Carista App offers dozens of customization options for the Prius Prime, including the three I mentioned in my original post. It communicates via Bluetooth and works w/many third party apps, but since I bought the $39.99 hardware on Amazon I also was eligible for a free 30 days of their $39.99 Pro app package. I customized the options, cancelled the free 30 day trial so I won't be charged in 30 days, and still have 29 days of the Pro service on the app. I recommend this hardware and app because unlike the alternative option above with "Prius Tweak" this has 4 menus, each with about a dozen custom options to personalize your Prime. This is particularly valuable for Plus trim owners, as we do not have several of the custom options available via tablet on Premium and Advanced trims.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Sweet. Or you can get the cheaper OBD adapter and get like a week trial. Either way, you'll get way more customizations.

Agreed. Now if I could somehow hack LKA (lane keep assist) to become a much improved LCA (lane center assist). We all know Toyota's more reserved philosophy re: autonomous driving. However, if any of you know a way to make LKA more useful as an auto pilot feature PLEASE let me know.

Has anyone figured out how to eliminate the reverse beep with a wifi OBDII.
PriusTweak and Carista only work with a bluetooth OBDII. I have tried other apps with no success.

Interesting. I didn't know Carista only worked with bluetooth. I was thinking about getting it for times when I don't want to mess with the laptop.

Carista does work with a cheap ELM327 WIFI, at least on iOS. I just connected to it on my Prius and it listed all the customizable options.

Cool! Thanks. I'll give it a shot next time I need to do something. I have the Techstream, but it's a bit of a pain to set it all up.

Thanks so much! I had a BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 left over from the days of owning a MINI (Error codes and repairs galore). The Prius Tweak software worked so easy, I couldn't believe it.

I strongly against disabling reverse beep, it needs to beep and annoy you.
If I didn't have that beep I would of already crashed my car or hit a pedestrian.
Plus how long are you usually in reverse gear. Not long just deal with the beep.
