    Hi All,

So here's my scenario. I have a 05 Prius that I bought only with one black logo FOB. The black FOB starts the car, but never unlocked/locked the doors, and had to use the cut key. I bought a Silver logo FOB from a dealer online and downloaded the programming procedure from USNAVYSTGC. Very clear instructions. I can start the car with the new FOB, so it took that programming. So then, I get into program mode for SKS. Once I try to associate the new Silver Logo fob by pressing lock/unlock simultaneously, the locks cycle twice, and that is every time I press either button. I press just the lock button and get a double cycle again, so I know the FOB is transmitting to the car. I exit the programming mode and it will not work to unlock/lock car. I have tried this 5 times. What am I doing wrong?

I have Mini VC and Techchstream that I use for other diagnosis and tests. Can the FOB be programmed through TechStream?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If your original fob is not working correctly, then it can't be duplicated successfully. The programming instructions are used to duplicate a properly working keyfob

Ok so since the original is not working correctly, it will not be able to program the new FOB with the SKS function so i'm guessing its a $150 trip to the dealer? I suppose I cant work any magic through TecStream? I did see where id# 3 was being used and it said 1 Fob was registered and there were 4 id's available. I just HATE going to the "stealer" if I can avoid it. Thank you for your response. I was hoping Navysgt or 3prongpaul would chime in. Take care

You have to use the black logo keyfob on a car without SKS. The plug-in-the-dash function is the same for both black and silver logo keyfobs, but the door lock/unlock is different.

You might use Techstream to check if the car has SKS equipment. If it does, then Techstream will show a "Smart Key" device. If not, then you really have black logo vehicle.

If you can find a Pop-A-Lock locksmith in your area, they are generally cheaper than the dealer. Or any auto locksmith with equipment for Toyota keyfob systems.

You could try a local locksmith. Sometimes they can be less expensive.
To program a key with Techstream you would need a reseed code. (96 characters). These are available to locksmiths. Or, via kinda sketchy online, non-US-based sources. Buyer beware! You may not get your money back. Or, you may get a weird call from your credit card company Fraud Prevention service.
If you can get it done through the dealer, $150 might be worth it. You'll have to compare that with the locksmith price.
