I've already searched the forum but haven't found anything useful. I am looking for a cell phone mount for my 2013 v that does NOT require me to take my eyes from the road and does NOT block the windshield or dash info. I have been using a vent mounted holder but it doesn't like my S7 much, wants to flip onto the floor (from weight I believe). I saw an old windshield mount with a 3.5" arm that seems do minimal blocking but I haven't found it for sale. Any ideas?

What about a friction mount? My son uses that with his Garmin in his Prius v. You can get cell phone brackets to fit the Garmin ball mount.

I hate PCs broken amazon links. :( Search for B000LRMS66 on Amazon.

How would an a-pillar mount play with the side deploying air bags?

No factor. The mount is low on the A-pillar below the side airbag parting line.

I looked at that. I have concerns about getting used to viewing on the left. But I rarely actually look at the phone so maybe it doesn't matter.

I have a friction pad. The great thing is you can put them where you want. I'll investigate that. Thanks!

I saw a photo of attaching it to the little side window. Does anyone have that? Seems like it would be out of the way.

That's the A-pillar mount. Impedes "view" (such as it is) through the little triangular window.

My Prius doesn't have a shift level like that.

I bought an iOttie mount with an articulating arm (just in case). Right now it is sitting on a friction pad. I have tried in front of the left side window and on the right side of the ledge in the center (so it doesn't block the view of the digital info). I forgot one thing. It is so hot in the windshield my phone sets off warnings and shuts down after awhile . I didn't have that problem in prior vehicles. So I'm still trying things.

Pro Tip: on an A-pillar mount, the forced vent air stream induces air flow that cools the phone...

This was the first thing I bought for my new (well, used 2014) Prius v. This had good reviews on Wirecutter, came quickly from Amazon, and seems to be just about perfect:

Kenu Airframe+ | Car Mount for Smartphones and Phablets | Black Kenu

It is a surprisingly small device for $30. The box is insultingly small. But it is beautifully made, and absolutely does the job. It appears to be rock solid attached to my vent.

My S7 apparently weighs too much. Yesterday the holder with phone fell off the weighed pad while driving the interstate ramps. Fortunately I don't normally drive them.

I have a suction cup mount with the 3.5" arm. I have it on the left side of the front windshield and it doesn't block my view of the road.

I agree the left side doesn't block the view. My brain can't seem to adjust to left side viewing. After it fell off the dash yesterday I tossed it to the passenger seat. It still talked to me. I think I only need it for those rare times I'm negotiating an unknown place so if it works from the passenger seat that's fine.

I was using the ProClip A-pillar mount with an iBolt xProDock, but the long, thin support arm caused the phone to hit a resonance and vibrate at my preferred highway cruising speed, strong enough that "shake to activate" features were turning on.

I bought another ProClip mount, ground off the molded arm with my Dremel, and bolted on a RAM base with a 1" ball, then attached a RAM short arm and X-Grip phone holder. The larger balls and thicker arm on the RAM products (1" = 25.4mm, vs. the 17mm ball on the iBolt) make the setup rock solid, with absolutely no vibration at any speed. The only downside is that two hands are required to insert or remove the phone.

I've used Nato Mounts for awhile now - both in a Prius V and a CRV. They advertise holding phones and tablets up to 2 lbs.

As a newbie, I can't post the link, but use natomounts in your url

Where on your dash did you place it? I don't seem to have a flat surface. Does it work through a case?

As an Uber driver, I struggled with a lot of the issues that the OP mentions. I came up with mod 4 years ago, that allowed me to mount a standard mount where I wanted it. I finally documented it today in the following thread, because I bought a second Prius V:

Phone Mount @ the Front of Console (Good for Ubering).

It involves drilling, two small holes. If I had not been taking pictures, this mod would have taken me 20 minutes. It puts the phone in a comfortable place low on my right side. It is easy to press buttons on the phone while your eyes are still on the road.

The mod gives you a stable flat surface to put your favorite phone mount, in a place that makes sense. I love the SCOSCHE MagicMount series, as it holds the phone firmly, and yet I can grab it and run quickly.
