2012 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon....) brake woes .... AGAIN

    I purchased the new vehicle February of 2012. In June of 2014 the rear brakes were clunking first thing in the morning backing out of the driveway. Off to the dealership and was told rear brakes were seized. They ended up replacing them under warranty.. I thought this was strange but perhaps an anomaly. Fast forward to this morning's oil change and inspection .. Both front and rear are seized. What the heck? Twice in 5 years! They are telling me the repair is not covered. I do have the ECP so I will fight that battle tomorrow. Too angry today and left without them repaired.
    Has anyone else experienced this??

    I haven't read about anyone with seized brakes. It is very odd for them to have seized solid twice. They are supposed to be lubricated regularly as part of your planned maintenance. If I were you I would dig through the maintenance receipts and find out the last time this was done.

    How many kilometers on your v lowercase v for the Prius v wagon

    I have a call with the service manager shortly.
    The first repair was @ 33,000km. Notes on service document say rear pads are seized and rotors are corroded. They replaced complete rear brakes under warranty.

    Now we are at 73,600 . Report says replace front brakes at 5mm seized rotors rusted. Same for rear. Over $1200 plus tax both combined.

    Has the undercarriage ever been washed? Does it too exhibit advanced corrosion? What sort of road deicer is used in Ottawa?

    What do they treat the streets with for ice/snow where you drive? How is the car washed?

    They should have done a brake service at 64,000 km in accordance with the service manual. It seems unlikely that this service was performed correctly.
