I put down a deposit without ever even sitting in one. Then I spent the next 2 weeks trying to find one to drive. Finally managed to rent one for 2 days and was sold. I then had 2 decide between the Prius and Jetta TDI. a pretty hard call for an Old VW man but I choose the Prius and with a little luck it will be here this week !!!!!!

Saw them on the road. Read a lot on this website. Just loved the concept and wanted one because of it. Put down my refundable $500. locally without ever driving one. Sat in one for about 4 minutes on the lot. Couldn't even turn it on. Ended up buying out of state over the phone. Tired of waiting for smarmy dealership. Picked it up 300 miles away and fell in love on the way home. This process was a wild departure for me...in the past I've tested every vehicle within the class I was interested...even drove a Miata in every color before choosing mine (had my husband drive them too so I could see it coming and going). Now I feel like a wildly free car buyer!

    You'll be thrilled!

Hay, I'm not the only one!!!!

I put down a deposit on a 2006 silver pine mica, package #5 last Monday. I've never even sat in a Pruis.... they said it'd be about 6 weeks for delivery. Five weeks now, but who's counting??? Congrates dude!! Sounds like we've both made a good choice!!! I havn't seen anyone on any of the forums yet who says they made a bad decision buying a Pruis, nowhere, and trust me, I've looked. So, I'm just settling in for the wait, but I am very excited!! so is my wife!! Its gonna almost be like Christmas when we were kids!!!

You're a <strike>germ</strike> gem, Linny! You made poor DH drive it NOT so he (and you) could see how HE liked it, but so you could play lookie-loo?

     :p B)

You should contact Henry (hdrygas) or Dave (daveinoly) or zapranoth, all in your area. Bet one of them would let you sit in theirs, maybe drive it! You've probably driven one by now, 6 weeks later, huh?

I test drove my sons 04 Prius and was really impressed. Then test drove my other son's 05, the next day I put my money down sight unseen without regrets. Have never done that before with anyother car.
Three weeks ago I'm at the dealers buying some oil plug gaskets. When a lady asked if she could look in my Prius. I was more than happy to let her sit it start it up and was willing to take her on a test drive but she had her two neices in their car seats. She was very impressed with the Prius and was going to think about it.

My wife and I have been thinking about (ok I have) replacing our WRX since we purchased our Magnum (the Baby Wagon). I commute 40+ miles a day in LA traffic (some stop and go, some slow canyon roads), I am switching jobs soon and will more time on the freeway  , last friday my normal 40 minute commute took me 2 hours, I called her in traffic and said we are buying a car this weekend.

I test drove a VW GTI then a Prius (I was leaning towards one not having driven it), soon after we went hunting for one and left the lot in the new car (8 hours after we started).

Even if I hated the car, I would still like it for being totally different than anything I have ever driven before.

I was able to test drive a 2005 Prius that someone had ordered and had their credit declined or something, so I ordered mine after that. I had almost gotten to drive one before that and then someone told my salesman it had been sold, so we didn't drive it, only got to look at it and sit in the seat a few minutes. I appreciated that they didn't take cars out for test drives that were spoken for, wouldn't have wanted that done with mine. I do now, however, offer to let friends who are seriously interested drive mine so they can see how it does.
