Brake Pedal Click

    Hello Keymusic,
    Got my Prius back. The following is what is in the report:

    Customer states when braking there is a clicking noise check and advise.
    Cause: Ticking/Cracking noise when applying brakes.
    467011 Brake Pedal
    103905WAR93
    1 47110-47060 Support Assy, Brake
    Part#: 47110-470606
    Technician took vehicle on a test drive and when applying the brake there was a ticking and cracking noise. Technician replaced brake pedal. Vehicle is working as designed.

    So far so good! Hope this helps.

    So was it just the 2 parts with the similar 10 digit part numbers that were replaced, brake pedal and the support assembly?

    Was not able to fix it. I took apart the spring and slide bolt the was pictured in key music's post (picture) and found that the click did NOT come from that area. It in fact (well for mine at least) came from the top of the brake pedal it self. I tightened the large bolt the connected the brake pedal to the car and the click went away for 3 days and came back. hope I can get the dealer to replace the pedal itself. Very frustrating.

    The annoying clicking noise just came back today! :mad: I am going to ride it out and see if the click will go away with more use. Will keep you posted.

    Sorry to hear that. I had a feeling that the problem is in the design of the pedal assembly and that just replacing it with the same design might result in the click returning. My click hasn't returned (yet) since I tweaked it. But I think that's because I actually altered it somewhat, even though it was just pressure I had applied to random areas of the assembly.

    So they changed out the whole brake assembly/pedal and the click is still there......Not a good sign for me.

    Going to try to tackle this again on monday, does anyone with this issue have a suggestion?

    I found that if I just use my left foot to push the brake pedal (pushing the left side of pedal) from left to right (towards the gas pedal) the click will go away for 5 to 10 mins. Then it returns, and if I push it on its side towards the gas pedal again it goes away again only to return. Hmmmm..

    Right. I had the same symptom. The behavior of mine was that the click would happen if I pushed the pedal to the left. So if you press it with your left foot, you're pushing it a little to the right so no click.

    Yup....if i use my left foot to brake (pushing the left side of the brake pedal), NO click. Use my right foot (driving foot) to push the brake pedal (right side of the brake pedal) CLICK!!

    I just want to rip this brake pedal off right now!!! Going to try to tighten or loosen it. Have to work tomorrow so will tackle this tuesday.

    Ok, so I think it may be fixed. I haven't had a click for four days. Now, I won't stand behind how I fixed it but this is what I did. It's a defect in the design of the pedal so all I did was put a lot of pressure on the brake pedal and pushing it towards the gas pedal. How much pressure im not sure but enough. Fixed for now I guess. I'll keep this post updated if it comes back.
