I got my Prius Advanced this week. I signed up for Entune from my computer and downloaded the app. My first thoughts were that Toyota was embedding my app with corporate prompts (advertising) giving me one less place in the world from which I can be free of advertising. Meh, I thought, kind of like Facebook, you have to wade through the "junk mail" to get to the "real mail." So, I signed up for connect, got my contract number, and, you guessed it, it is incompatible with my Samsung5S. I called Toyota and they said my phone is too old. Hello Toyota! I paid 35k for the fanciest model and you can't figure out how to marry the tech to a 3 year old phone? I am not a tech person but was really looking forward to using these features. I think I am going to remove the whole damn app from my phone and car since I don't want to be prompted to use yelp or movies or Facebook or tables when I just wanna drive the car and use the features promised in their advertising. Not classy, Toyota, not classy. Your thoughts about a go-around/solutions fellow Prions?

I'd be inclined to say that that's more Samsung's fault for not updating their OS.

If you want long term support and compatibility, Google Pixel or iPhone are your only options.

My Galaxy S5 is listed as compatible with a 2017 Prius Prime.

    Entune Connect

I got a software update on it two weeks ago, so they are still updating it.

More than likely there is a hardware issue that is the gating item with your older phone.

When I look at the Entune Connect site , It seems like only iPhone6 (if using Verizon) will do charge management. That is provided you have the Advanced Prime JBL system. No other phones give complete Entune functionality.
It is hard to believe that no other phones are completely functional. How did the designers accept this flawed system. I'm beginning to feel some buyers remorse and haven't taken delivery yet.

I've owned my prime premium for 3 weeks and after being casual in learning the tech in my gen 3 with nav and JBL sound system, I was committed to learning this one early so I could take full advantage of the benefits. I have an Iphone 6 with the latest IOS. Sadly, after having spent a good deal of time with it all, I have experience ALL the problems of this original post. Inconsistency is the norm - nothing related to hands free or blue tooth is the norm.
Of course Toyota should have Carplay, etc. integrated. But regardless of any of that, it should be more reliable with basic functions. In 2017 I'm confident a bottom end after market system has more reliable integration than this. Heck, bluetooth is old tech, and voice recognition has advance a lot as well. I don't buy it that it's primarily an Iphone issue.
If it weren't for the other features in the premium and advanced levels, the best approach would be to save your $$, buy a plus and invest in a very nice after market system and still save. Problem is they lock you into these pre-defined levels. I get it from a production savings perspective but it's quite annoying otherwise.
I really don't know what to do about the tech with phone and voice - it's very disappointing. To be honest, it's so bac, it makes me wonder if I'd have preferred a Volt.

The Prime advanced is my third Prius. My iPhone functionality is better on my 2007 Prius than my 2017 Entune junk!
