I used to notice, walking home from a train commute on hot summer afternoons: I'd be ok, until I walked through this strip mall. It had big areas of black tarmac, and the store fronts all had reflective glass facing south towards the tarmac. It was like walking through a solar cooker. Changing my route, I could walk along a treelined path beside a stream. Much better.

I got Blizzard Pearl because it was the most reflective paint and keeping the car cooler inside as well as being more visible at night were my main considerations. However, Blizzard Pearl is a tri-coat hue that's more difficult and expensive for body shops to match if you need to get it touched up so consider that as well. If I had it to do over again, I'd pick silver or sea glass pearl which would be almost as reflective but cheaper to repaint.

For years I backed away from black and white (in that order) due to the maintenance required but i eventually went for the black 2017. With the 17" alloys the car looks really nice, more so in my opinion than the white. In the U.K. White seems to be the predominant colour, probably due to no additional costs.
At the end of the day you buy car and colour based on your preference. You'll enjoy which ever you decide.

Crystal pearl looks more silver than white in your picture

Not sure about other colors, but after 40,000 miles my BP car shows awful lot of very small chips on the front cone (only).

Once the white paint is chipped, black shows through from underneath, which I suspect makes them more visible.

I also have a lot of small grey scratches showing in door handle cup.

If one is sensitive to such things, white might not be best.

That's funny because I have about 25k miles and a couple chips in the front, but underneath the paint is white but my car is black. Same for me with the door handle cup.

The undercoat of my Blizzard Pearl Prius is black.
The undercoat of my Attitude Black Avalon is white.

    Go figure...

Bought a black/ black 4T -- it was the least offensive. Our 2011 Gen 3's fives are white/gray. The Gen 3's are better looking cars. I have owned every car color imaginable -- most cars look great in black .. BUT , buy what you like.

Agree with ATHiker, a chip on my nose in the first week showed black beneath and a couple more in the last year. However the blizzard pearl sparkles beautifully in the sunshine. A scratch on the spoiler, some chips on the flanks show white beneath.
I had no choice on the colour, but i am glad to have it.

Not sure, but maybe so it's easier to tell if the top coat has completely covered the primer on the production line.
