I wanted to find out if bluetooth on our Priuses supported more than one phone. So, I called the salesperson at the dealer where I bought my car. He forwarded me to someone at service who then forwarded me to someone else. In the end, nobody knew what would happen if multiple phones could be registered.

So, I did a search on these forums and found the exact answer to my question. Thank you to PC and the internet!

I'm sure glad that PriusChat is better. That is because there are folks out there using the vehicle. Aside from Galaxy and other folks here who work for Toyota dealers and such, very few Toyota dealer level employees have purchased the vehicle and even fewer dealers have chosen to purchase a Prius for their "office fleet" with the purpose of the car being an employee training test bed. Tragic!

I don't have a bluetooth phone yet but I read somewhere that you can have multiple phones registered with the Prius but you can only use one at a time.

You are so right! My salesguy told me that Prii go in and out of the dealership so fast that the majority of the salespeople know little about them and have barely been inside of them.

Seems to be a theme....I knew more about the option packages and the car overall than several sales people that I talked with. Just think what the wait would be like if the dealers had the wealth of knowledge that you find on PC.

I am pretty sure you can pair more than one Bluetooth phone to the car, but only one Bluetooth phone can be connected at any given time. I am too lazy to look it up in the owner's manual.

The information on multiple phones is not in the owner's manual. Even the gentleman that I spoke to at the dealership could not find it in the owner's manual. That's when I turned to the forum.

And yes, you can have multiple phones registered. Here's where I found the info.

I have to agree....this forum has a lot more info than the dealerships. I have been very grateful to this site for all of the info. I learned a lot more here than I could have possibly learned from asking around at the dealership. When it came to a test drive, my salesguy kinda felt odd because he was trying to impress me with things I already knew about and what would impress most during a "first" experience, I already knew about and kinda just glance over as in "yeah". I think he kinda felt like I was unimpressed but just the opposite. Very impressed with the car but already knew about it! This site rocks as far as getting people to know what to expect......it really doesn't sink in until you actuallly own one thought! Welcome to the club!!!! :)

My salesman impressed me with his Prius knowledge. I took my test drive after spending several hours at PriusChat, soaking up as much as I could. My salesman knew everything. He showed me things I had read about that were a mystery to people who had owned the car for a year (the "secret" drawer, the blinking red light on the dash, removing the clip on the rear wiper, unscrewing the antenna for carwashes, making sure to close the gas cap all the way, etc.).

My salesman actually drives a Prius, and his enthusiasm was infectious.

The salesman is Toyota Sam Lee at Miller Toyota, Manassas, VA.

That is true. I have 2 phones on me at any one time and they're both paired up to the Prius. If the battery in one phone is dying and I don't have my charger on me, I'll change my chip from the Razr to the Nokia and switch phones on the mfd. No problems at all.

With regards to dealers not having much knowledge about the ins & outs of the Prius, I actually had a very knowledgeable salesguy. He spent 30-45 minutes with me in and around the car the night I picked it up, explaining all the workings of it (even though I must admit I already knew most of them thanks to PC) and even helping me to get the Homelink connected up with my garage door opener.

I happened to stop by the service department of a dealer I don't normally go to. The service guy looked at my Prius and said "You Prius owners know more about your cars than *I* do."

    And he loved Paul's decals.

And he wanted to know where I got my door moldings.

I know up to 4 phones can be paired with the car, but does it automatically pair when any one of them is in the car, or will it only try to pair with the selected phone? I don't have more than one phone to play with...

Secondly, does the "select user" feature within Nav also switch the selected BT phone? That would be cool (and useful) if it does. I don't really see much other practical use to the "Select user" feature with the Nav.

I should probably get around to reading the Nav manual sometime, though I think I have figured all the features out (except maybe the user thing) already.
