$3700.00 That was the installed price quote from the dealer? Let us know if that's where it ends up. And does that come with the same guarantee as the original battery?

Thanks Mendel. In the thread that you linked I was surprised to see the wide range of dealer installation charges. $99.00 from an owner who apparently removed come of the interior panels himself, to $640.00. Anyone else seen a more recent quote with the install labor itemized?

I have gotten the impression from other posts at this forum over the years that most dealers will charge whatever they think they can get away with. But from $99 to $640 is a huge variation, unless the guy who did some of the labor himself spent 3-4 hours at it.

I think with a new battery there's a significant amount of internal part swapping required, more than with a rebuild. A new Toyota supplied battery does not have some of the electronics, they need to be pulled from the old. Whereas a rebuilder will leave it more intact, swap electroncs as well? Some expert here was saying that, just can't recall specifics or what thread. Maybe that would account for some of the labour charge discrepancy.

    Do dealers offer rebuilds?

If it's not a Toyo dealer maybe but it would still be $$$

I got this warning message with warning light on "Check Hybrid System. Stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately."

I have a 2012 Prius C with 115,000 miles. LOVE my car and have lived in FL, CA, SC now ME (Maine). Problem started in winter here and it would not start so I had it towed to dealership, they kept it for a week, then gave it back with no diagnosis, other than they reset it and they don't know what it is, and it may happen again.

I did not exactly know where to post this. This thread is very helpful.

First thing I'd suggest is to check the 12v battery. If it's low, weird stuff happens. Lots of threads here about how to check and what it should read.

If that's not the problem, then you'll have to have the codes read with a scanner that can read Prius codes. In other words, not at an Autozone or some such place.

Its been read by 2 Toyota computer / scanners and zero communication comes through from my C. Zero codes. Now looking at replacing the ECU in the back seat. Possibly ECU & battery...

Appreciate you keeping us posted on the final diagnosis, and the cost of repair as well. My 2012 C has similar mileage and I am really hoping the hybrid battery lasts a lot longer than this.

I know you all have been waiting with baited breath.
Not sure why it took this amount of time but I got my car back Fri 4-28-17 (drove their very nice loaner for about 6200 miles).

    The $$Damage$$ are as follows:
    1. G9510-52031 BATTERY ASSY, HV SUP @ $2456.74
    2. $900.00 LABOR. T
    3. Total charges.............$3356.74.

They did some tire swapping for me at No Charge.
That's it. We're back in business.
And....we're taking delivery on another 2012 with less than 37,000 miles on it Sunday.

That's a pretty good price from a dealer.
Glad to hear you are back on the road.
    Thanks for following up.

I'm surprised others are saying bad things would happen. I think if anything bad would happen it would have happened before the 200 miles on ICE. Looks like the Prius works just like the Honda in that it can run solely on ICE. I've been driving mine for about a week now since my invertor failed

Oh ok. I thought "check hybrid system" meant that there was no connection to the hybrid battery

    MI 5s ?

nah, it just means there's a related trouble code. could be nothing, just a glitch sometimes.
