OK - I need to vent here. I'm so furious with DMV that I want to scream. I go to the trouble of doing the forms to pre-order decals the moment a VIN# is available on a Prime. I literally stop what I am doing, fill in the form, get a check request in and pre-address the envelope and get it ready to be mailed out immediately. I do this on every Prime. I do things as I did before, very methodically mark the cars internally as having already requested them, etc etc. and then, we wait.
Yesterday, we received back a two-page list of cars (by vin) and a refund for stickers NOT issued. These were cars we requested decals for back in late November and very early December.
WHY did they return the form and refund? Because they went VIN by VIN and determined there were registrations in process or done. Meaning, sold already.
I am so spun, it's hard to contain my rage at this.
DMV people: if you sit on a multi-car request for decals LONG ENOUGH on a popular car that does sell fast, EVERYTHING will be sold by the time you get off your f*ing asses and process MY paperwork! It's already mid February! They are just telling us NOW that they cannot send most of my pre-requested decals to me. After at least 20 phone calls over the past 6 weeks from me, my CFO, my business manager, and my DMV title clerk. Literally hours on hold. Hours of wasted time being told "we're just behind, sorry, I'm sure they are in process soon..." and each of us getting multiple stories about what week they are backlogged to.
I swear if DMV processing unit was a business we could conduct elsewhere, I'd write them off for good. Buy elsewhere. I'm speechless right now. I have no freaking clue what the point of pre-ordering any Prime decals is, because you have no clue WHEN the DMV people will open your forms and start to process them. I could be assuring someone I have ordered them, which I have done MANY times since November, only to discover they are sending back the request with a careless "sorry, someone already owns the car, you can't have them now" letter.
So, F.U. DMV for making me and my dealership look like careless liars to Prime clients and frankly, you should be ashamed of yourselves for your customer service to MY clients, who are also your clients!
But of course, you're the only game in town, so to speak. Why should you care?

Dianne, you could try selling cars here in Illinois. We have no HOV stickers. We have no state credit program. We have no state budget. We have no Primes. Your job would be SO much easier!

No bet. Even on my driveway it's 2 to 1. A truck, a Rav4 and a Prius. When the kids were home it was 2 trucks, 2 Rav4s and a Prius for a 4 to 1 ratio.

Dianne, in Chicago, our Primes have a ten thousand dollar "market adjustment fee" attached to the sticker.

David, that's also happening here in SoCal at a lot of dealerships. I have been selling at MSRP with no added markup lately, and discounting a little if a car's been here for a few days. The profit margin in these is pretty pathetic, at just about 3% between invoice and MSRP.
I have seen the current dealership addendums at other stores reported as little as adding $300 worth of tint for $1995, or 1200 worth of leather for $2495, that type of thing.

Candidly, we are not immune as a dealership... when 2015 Prius PlugINs sold out, and we had the only few dozen left in the state with then-unavailable HOV decals assigned to them, we also sold at over MSRP. The market is what it is.

For the .09, roughly what credit number does a person need to be at?? We need to buy a car by this weekend since our new car was totaled. The insurance paid a large portion of it on Tuesday 4/25/17. We owe about $3000 on it but don't want to pay it off since we heard it will hurt our credit. We were preapproved by CapOne for 3.64.
