    Date Ordered: 5/27
Dealer Ordered From (Incl. City/State): Beechmont Toyota, Cincinnati, Ohio
Timeframe given for delivery: 2 - 10 weeks -- salesman said he'd have better idea after the 6/1 allotment
Color: We gave a list of colors in this order
    1 - magnetic dark gray
    2 - seaside pearl
    3- barcelona red
    4- silver pine mica
    5-classic silver
    6- black
we would be happy with any and the dealer knows this. The only colors we didn't want at all were white or driftwood pearl -- of course we could have a driftwood pearl in a matter of days, but it is the only color we just disliked. We didn't care about interior color.

    Option Package: #4

Your # on Dealer's Waiting List: Didn't give us a number, but there didn't seem to be any others waiting on the allotment, a few folks who had cars already assigned to them were waiting for them to arrive.

Super nice salesperson, he really did a nice job of balancing the "I'll do what it takes to get your car quickly," with a realistic view of the worse case scenario of a three month wait. He mentioned trying to do some dealer swaping with the seaside pearl one that is coming in next week to get us anyother color.

GOOD NEWS is that all prius actually put in use (purchased) before September will get the full tax credit. Whew.

I too just "ordered" a Prius today, 5-30-06. Here in Colorado I'm being told by both our local Toyota dealers that the average wait time right now is about 2.5-3 months. This is much longer than your 2-10 week time frame given you.

I asked how the process worked for this dealer and the impression I got was that my so called "order" did not go to Japan but here in the US as they arrive by boat, Toyota decides which dealer gets what based on the individual orders each dealer submits. I ordered the Seaside Pear (blue) with package 8. I also requested the darker grey interior but willing to accept the lighter tan color.

Other interesting notes to mention are:

    1) He asked if I would except package 7 instead of 8 (Package 8 minus the leather interior) and they would have a local leather shop redo the interior with identical grade leather. They say they do this all the time with all the Toyota models they sell and claim no difference to factory appearence and no warranty interference. He said it might speed up the wait. Cost was within $50 of factory cost difference.

    2) He also said the wait times varied based on color and package number. Apparently package 4 is popular and I would be far down their list but since I wanted Package 8, I would be number 2 on the list waiting for package 8.

    3) Highly recommended the wheel locks (dealer option) as the tires/wheel are hot items for theft in the Denver area. The dealer said 7 of his new Prius car arrivals in Denver for transport to the dealer were recently sitting on jacks all missing the wheels!

    4) While the dealer only gave the vague 2.5-3 month wait, he did say he would give me phone call updates each week or two on the status of the order so perhaps they do know more than they share????

    Best wishes..... Tom kn6vv

    UPDATE:

About two weeks ago we got the good news that our Pruis would be in between 6/22-6/29. We got our first color choice . . . the bad news is that we are out of town this week--I am actually out of town as I type this--so we are picking up the Prius the day after we get back.

With any luck, we will have the exact car we wanted, in the metallic grey, on 7/5.

I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone else waiting. As long as things go as planned, our wait will have only been about a month.

kn6vv -- the way your dealer explained the ordering process is identical to the way ours explained it to us. I hope you get it as soon as we wilL!

    **Sigh** still no prius.

Dealer has been invoiced for the car, I have a VIN, but the car is stuck in Chicago. Apparently there have been a lot of delays getting toyotas out Chicago into our area lately. Anyone else heard of this?

We are on a day to day wait right now. Our salesman calls every day to sadly report the truck hasn't come in yet.

g-p, your still doing better than I on time. I "ordered" mine three days after you on 5/30 and I just got my call from the dealer on July 5 saying they got their allocation for my car, my first choice, Seaside Pearl package 8. He said it was a deveil of a time finding a blue pkg 8 and claimed their are very few of them but what does that mean? Most everybody I think has had to wait their turn I guess. Anyway he said 3-4 weeks from July 5 so he said expect it around the end of July to first week of August. This makes it about 2 months for me and better than the 2.5 to 3 month wait they told me!

I believe the ship arrives somewhere in the Los Angeles area and then they will send it by rail to Denver and then Auto Carrier to my Dealer about an hour north of Denver. I have not seen anything about rail delays but I'm not near Chicago.

Best wishes on your new arrival. Your Dark Met Grey is a beautiful color! Congrats!

Our prius came in July 12 and we picked it up that night. It is wonderful.

It is worth the wait! Hang in there kn6vv.
