prius hv battery

    I took the battery out car wouldn't start, I saw a video on utube where his was the same, he cleaned the bars
    and it started right up,so the bars must be cleaned every now and then.

    cooling fan looked ok but took it out and apart its dirty, how do guys clean it ?

    soap and water, q tips, small brushes, whatever will fit in there.

    Our Battery Module Load Tester r has the H4 bulb wired in series to create the ~6A load. It's a great low cost way to identify failed modules:

    Yes, agreed 100%. Our new ProlongPro Discharger will have an integrated 60A module load tester. This will be a much better simulation of what the modules experience when the vehicle is being driven. It will help find borderline modules much better than a 5-6A load will.

    I think that you meant wired in parallel
    You should probably add that information to your product description.

    To use that 60 amp discharge capability to identify weak modules requires that you can read the module voltages while in discharge. A MiniVCI will at least read module pair voltages.

    Is that a new product that has yet to be released? o_O

    I know of the consumer Prolong Battery Discharger, and the more commercial Prolong Intelligent Discharger, but nothing about a ProlongPro Discharger.

    After looking around the website I found no mention of an integrated 60A module load tester for either of the above models, though to be honest I failed to read the user guide(s).

    Aack, yes of course. Parallel.

    The ProlongPro Discharger IR calculator/load tester will is used on one module at a time. It is separate from the 3A pack level discharging ability of the system. It reads module voltage while performing the test, no VCI required. It's designed to be used on a battery pack that is on the bench being rebuilt, fully independent of the vehicle.

    The ProlongPro Rapid Discharger is a different product than the Prolong Battery Discharger. It's a 3A universal discharger designed for shops/professional users. It will pair with the 3A ProlongPro Rapid Charger, also not yet released. Both are on track for July and will retail for $1,695 each. We are deep in R&D now.     Both batterys check out good, check 6 fuses #14-7.5 amps 22-7.5,33-20,34-7.5,49-5,50-120
    after about 5 min of driving red triangle,check engine lite, brake sys warning lite and vsc lites come on and it goes down
    to about 30 mph. what else can I check? THANKS cleaned fuses with green pad

    I put 6.5 amps on each modual,and checked the volts

    #9 modual went out with a bang, so o'reillys wants $1275 for dorman with 3 yr warranty, toyota will
    give me a new one for 2200 with 1yr warranty. The parts manager at toyota says he would go for the
    dorman. These are plus tax. Can I do any better ? THANKS

    The parts manager needs to get informed, the warranty is 3 years, if installed by Toyota. And in any case a 1 year warranty on a new battery from Toyota (for a non-Toyota install) is worth infinitely more than a three year warranty from a rebuilder on what amounts to be a collection of secondhand parts of unknown origin and quality.

    I don't think you could do better than a factory new from Toyota.
    The parts manager doesn't know what he is talking about. I wouldn't take advice from him.

    I agree, I'd go for the new Toyota for $1000 more--you'll get ten more + years out of it. And be able to move it to another Gen2 if ever needed.

    got me a new meter, checked modules again,9 is bad,8 & 12 are a little weak ,am going to replace
    the three and put the outside ones in the middle. Later for for 1275 or 2200, this will be a little over
    a $100.

    You can charge the weak modules if they are still over 7.2v. No need to replace good modules

    I thought this also, until I saw a 138 amp discharge rate on Techstream while testing a newly rebuilt HV battery in my 2007. It was only 108 (or maybe it was 118 amps) when I did the screen capture. I was monitoring the laptop while my son was performing driving maneuvers as I requested. 138A appeared during a hard acceleration test simulating a right-hand turn pulling out into traffic. Needless to say, I was surprised.

    It was during the 2006 model year that the SW parameters were changed to allow the higher current draw. So your 2007 should be expected to exhibit currents of the order of 130 amps. As with any control system, some short term overshoot will occur when the system is suddenly requested to provide high output.

    I wasn't aware of that. Didn't think the jump was made until the Gen 3 models. That's interesting to know. Thanks.

    If I were to put a 2007+ battery into a 2005, would that enable the 2005 to also draw 130?
