    Found this, might help...

    Hairspray Stain

To remove the hardened hairspray from your carpet, you can first try using a wet cloth and a little shampoo. If that doesn´t work, try saturating the stain with ammonia, let it sit for 5 minutes, then blot out excess liquid with a clean white cloth; repeat if necessary.

I would think that if it works on carpet, would probably work on the cloth... I don't know if I would try ammonia on the MFD, though. (and usually when you try to get stains out, they say to try whatever you're using in an inconspicuous place first, to make sure the color won't run.)

Thanks! But I also should have mentioned, its mostly on the plastic, I cant see it on the cloth as much. the spots on the plastic stand out like if it were a soda stain, but it doesnt come off with water or anything ive tried so far...

i think i might try rubbing alcohol

I just tried 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and with some scrubbing it took off the hairspray spots, but I think that I may have done permanent damage to the plastic trim around the cupholders!!!

there was a spot on the trim around the cupholders infront of the center armrest, the metallic grey trim, it seems to have rubbed off the paint, or at least some of it!

Did I totally mess up this trim peice?!?! I think the alcohol ate into the paint now! AHHH!!

alcohol can be used as a paint thinner, and as such i wouldn't try it on any painted pieces. i think you might be SOL.

I think that's not just a spot, the plastic is damaged and if you can't clean it, better repaint it or change it.

Somehow, I think the OP has moved on – they haven't been on PC in over ten years.
