I stand corrected. I knew the left turn indicator was there. My criticism is still somewhat valid that the majority of the indicators are outside the driver's normal field of vision. Toyota probably wanted the HUD directly centered, but I think they could have moved it farther outboard to move more of the warning indicators.

The only problem with a nagging voice is it goes in one ear and out of the other, or so SWMBO tells me.

Notwithstanding the obvious reversal for LHD, your display seems different from ours. Like ProdigyPlace, mine's on the passenger side of the display also. (n)

If Toyota does like here, yours should be below the right turn signal indicator. I did to realize they placed other lights there.

Well, driver's seat is on the right and most indicator lamps are on the lhs of the binnacle. I just checked on the lamp test and fuel warning did not flash up with all the others on start check... Sooo, I reckon it must be between the speedo and the cowling on the rhs as you suggested and is not illuminated for start up test. Seems like i have another visual treat in store if showing the fuel level to get too low.

In case you didn't get my message, I'm saying I was wrong and thanks for putting me right! (y)

I so much agree with this.

Maybe some of it is generational?
But having grown up with needle gas gauges, that did nothing but MAYBE go from pointing at full to pointing at empty, and sometimes became faulty and even got stuck?

The idea that a vehicle needs to release a Trunk Monkey or engage in some auditory and visual Blue Man Group Light Show to remind you when you are low on gasoline seems ridiculous.

Guess what? When you're down to one Pip? You're low on gas.- How hard is that?

People complained that there was only one beep. Now people are complaining there are no beeps?

Just look at your gauge. Take a little personal responsibility. It's REAL EASY to know how much gas you have left, and have an idea when you should fill up.
If you can't handle gas gauge monitoring? I'm not sure you should even be driving. If you need a level of nanny monitoring that requires the vehicle sending Ouja Board signals to you if you approach having an empty gas tank? Maybe you shouldn't be driving.

I'm down to one Rant Pip...time to fill up.

When I was a kid, our '58 VW Beetle had no gauge. If it started sputtering, you could reach down, turn a lever, to switch over to the reserve. See page 9 (pdf page 11) in the attachment here:

I would think the lever went directly into the gas tank, which was under the hood, purely mechanical. My dad would also check the gas, by taking off the cap and dropping in a cedar split dipstick.

    Like-wise (snigger!)

Not to give any offence to those speaking UK English (snicker!).

No prizes will be awarded for any similarity to a chocolate/peanut snack detected. :D

When they are fully self-driving, maybe they can automatically drive to the filling station for you. No beeps, no responsibility...you might have to pump the gas. That can probably be automated, so the car will just always have gas in it. Brave new world.....

    That's not a Utopia.....it's a freaky nightmare...!!!
It's true, we need to take more responsibility for control of our modern technology tools - and vehicles.

It's all very well having amazing levels of automation, but I fear our minds will become idle and feeble if we can't even think to actually operate our own technology at basic levels anymore.

    Everything should be in moderation.

p.s. I'm no Luddite, I love the 21st century and the amazing tech we all get to use!! Personally, I'm ecstatic about the geek overload factor, but I equally have no wish for humanity to degenerate into those hapless useless humans in the movie WALL-E

    iPhone ?

It's a real thing, no joke. Played a factor in the demise of the Air France flight that went into the Atlantic a few years ago -- flight crew inexplicably ignored or tuned out the (intermittent due to ice) audible stall warnings.

A worse case was the crew that ignored the "Terrain - PULL UP! Terrain - PULL UP! Terrain - PULL UP! etc and flew into a mountainside..... :(

The 2016 and 2017 don't have "PIPS" and they also don't alet you when the low fuel comes on, not even a single beep. This was started as a 2016-2017 blog and it has regressed to a Gen 3 blog.
