Prime Owners - Accessories/Mods ?

No real effect that I can see. I was a bit concerned at first but have not noticed any issues due to the superior Prius front lighting. One thing I have noticed is that glare from HID lights and high beams are not an issue as they were before. Especially with HID lights, I would have to look down at the center line in order to not be blinded for the next 15 seconds while my eyes adjusted back to normal.

As with anything in life, don't do it if it makes you uncomfortable. The main reason I have it is to reduce incoming heat during the day. Would not do this on a car with older lighting systems.

 

What's the name of the company that you used? My Prime arrives next month, and plan to have my windows tinted. I'm interested in the ceramic tint to cut down the heat & UV rays. I live in the LA area, and looking for a referral. Thx!

 

Are you happy with the clear bra? Where did you have the work done? I live in the LA area. Once I have my prime, I want to do the same thing. There is so much debris on the freeways, I feel I like I live in a rock quarry.

 

I went to local tint shop to see vehicle with 3M Crystalline CR90 front windows with CR70 all windows and back. Once I entered and stayed for few minutes without air conditioning I can feel less heat my skin and less squint vision. I do not know what the vision will be in the evening (may be others that have tinted front windshield,can provide their views), but I think will have minimal vision hindrance. One item to remember 3M Crystalline are expensive $600 +. Currently I'm debating if I want to purchase, but summer is near, I will need to make decision soon.
In regards window tinting, I suggest you go to local tint shop ask them the legal tint available for your state and if you decide to tint your vehicle windows, don't forget to inspect after the work is/are done and tint label that conforms to the state law is installed.

California tint law are (please confirm with your current state law):

• Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
• Front Side windows: Aftermarket film must allow more than 88% of light in, or minimum 70% VLT if combined with factory-tinted windows.
• Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used.
• Rear Window: Any darkness can be used

Please remember is not the XX% tint that matters, it is the XX VLT %(Visible Light Transmitted, window +tint).

Texas tint laws are (please confirm with your current state law):

• Windshield:
• 1. Sunscreening devices must be applied above the AS-1 line. If there is no AS-1 line, sunscreening devices must end five inches below the top of the windshield.
  2. Sunscreening devices may not be red, amber, or blue in color.
  3. Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.
  4. Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less.
  5. A clear (un-tinted) UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption being require
  25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection.
• Front Side windows:
• 1. Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.
  2. Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less
  
  
• Back Side windows:
• These windows are completely exempted from regulation under the Texas Transportation Code
• Rear Window:
• If a motor vehicle is equipped with an outside mirror on each side of the vehicle that reflects to the vehicle operator a view of the roadway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle then there are no restrictions regarding the sunscreening devices applied to the rear window
