Not sure if there was a post, but I got tired of searching….

Here are a few easy steps to replace the Rear Wiper Blade Insert on a 2012-2014 Prius.

If you've noticed the rear wiper blade does not lift very far off the glass…. Pull slightly either side of the retaining clip.

The wiper will then lift all the way up.

Take the upper part of the blade and pull back, the wiper blade and arm will then form a T shape. The blade will now lift off the arm easily.

Once you have the blade you can take it somewhere flat as you will need to bend the blade downward with hands on opposite ends… think of snapping a twig in two over the knee, something like that… just not that aggressive but the two pieces will unsnap and you can then slide the insert out…

Pull the insert out, pull the metal support rods out and insert the rods into your new insert, repeat the above steps in reverse and you're done.

Hope this helps anyone who may need to replace their rear wiper insert.

Attached is an excerpt from the Repair Manual. And here's my beef with Toyota:

Why isn't this in the Owner's Manual !!

This is great, thanks for posting.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether non-Toyota wiper inserts/refills are okay and work well (not the whole new blade). Or, should I stick with Toyota-brand inserts?

    Thanks!

I would stick with Toyota, just pick up at dealership parts department too, to avoid any mix-up.

The Owner's Manual you can download from Toyota techinfo. Just google that expression, and then go to the manuals tab.
