Preventing dust build up on dash

    I don't know if it's the poor quality London air that flows into my car or if the Gen 4's dashboard materials are particularly attractive to dust particles but is there anything I can spray on to reduce the amount of dust that accumulates?

    I just cleaned the dashboard 2 weeks ago and look at it now. 1493147166512.jpg

    That's impressive! :eek: My PiP is almost that bad here in Florida. I suspect that it's mostly pollen here. I wonder if dust repellant cleaning spray would help. I might give that a shot, now that you mention it.

    Myself, I just keep a new microfiber cloth in my center console for bi-weekly wipe downs of the screen. If someone has another method, please let us know

    very little dust in mine. I always keep the vent button on closed-Recirculate, and use the AC.

    the only thing more attracted to pri than dust is mice.

    You should look in different things to clean your dash ..evidently you are using some type of oil based cleaning that definitely give shines while attract dust like magnet

    Yep - it's dust.:D

    WIKI is very helpful - "Dust is fine particles of matter (duh!) ... dead human skin cells", though the article is interesting if you've a fetish for dust.

    My Mum reckons it's largely dandruff - I won't admit to it.

    Mine gets solved every FRIDAY. I pick up my Mum to take her to visit Dad in a nursing home. A I start driving, she goes for the microfibre cloth in the centre and dusts my black.

    I love the WHITE - in 9 months, it hasn't attracted any dust whatsoever, whereas the black has needed cleaning every week. Oh, for a fully white dash.

    It needs a HEPA filter on the air-intake - and around the bodies of all occupants who will be shedding.

    I don't use chemicals, i clean by wiping the dash with a microfibre cloth.

    Perhaps an antistatic cloth (whatever that is) would help, although I prefer to use a slightly damp tear-off paper towel.

    @alanclarkeau my white gloss does attract dust same as the black, so it's time for the head and shoulders treatment for you! :cool:

    HOLY COW!! That's a lot of dust/pollen! I usually a Swiffer dusters with the foldable prong handle for the dash and stereo and a microfiber cloth for like the windows and stuff.

    Wow. Maybe switch to a particulate cabin air filter once the factory one (which is a dust & pollen) filter is at the end of its life. Clearly the particles are still making their way into the cabin.

    Ours is dusty too but we don't have as much sand/dust (due to a desert or sanding the roads). Most of the dust will be from construction typically.

    So over 2 months ago, I paid for the Toyota enhanced cabin filter that claims to trap more pollutants from entering the cabin. It seems to have helped with dust build up on the dash, as I've noticed the screen especially doesn't get as dusty as it used to before, when I had the stock cabin filter.

    Is that different from the normal cabin filter? - which was changed in my service a few weeks ago.

    yes mate. See this link here. I suspect you might not need it out where you live, but pollution is so high in London now, that it appears to be a better filter for my driving conditions.
