I'm cleaning up my white 04 Prius. Have a friend who's going to give me a hand in polishing/waxing to protect the paint. However, he said my outside mirror paint was gone, though the rest of it could be revived. He suggested plasti-dipping it black, but I don't like the look of plasti-dip much, and I don't think it would complement the rest of the car. Anyone have suggestions on fixing the outside mirror paint? I've considered just buying a similar white paint and dousing them, since it wouldn't be immediately noticeable I don't think. Buying new white covers is $60 for both, hoping to spend less. Any touch-up paint that can be applied to the whole thing that isn't expensive?

I'm in the process of fixing my outside mirrors on my 2007 white Prius. The paint was really faded with many dark spots from all the bugs and road grime. what I've done so far is to remove the outside coverd and wet sand them with 500 Grit sandpaper on the drill. I got all of the grime out and now they are in the original white plastic color. I believe they didn't have any paint on them only a clear coat. So that is my next step. I will post an update after I do the clear coat.

I finish sanding the covers with 3000 grit sandpaper. I'm tempted to leave them like this because they look pretty good.

Wow that looks great. Did you end up clear coating them? If all you had to do was sand them down I might give that a shot this weekend.

I put the covers back on without any clear coat they look fine. I'm not going to do anything else to the mirrors since I'm going to sell the car.
