thanks for the suggestions. I borrowed a friends Solus scanner and there was a HV ECU code. p3000. low hv battery. I purchased a grid charger as suggested and will check fuel pressure once the battery is recharged.

Solus, wow! Bet you wouldn't mind hanging on to that bad boy?...

Unfortunately, I think most modern Toyota's require T-ing in to the fuel line to check pressure. Can the friend with the Solus hook you up there, too? Otherwise, any decent universal pressure tester should be fine. No fuel pressure monitor for Gen 3 with Techstream that I can find. Sure seems like they could monitor pressure, doesn't it?

The grid charger worked perfectly. There is no easy place to tee in to the fuel system. I ended up cutting the nylon fuel hose that supplies the fuel rail. Fuel pressure is 20-24 psi. Ordered used fuel pump ($59 eBay) as a new one is between $400-$800. I'll update once the new pump is installed.

Solus is great. Too expensive for the average person to own though.

Installed new fuel pump, car runs great. Just drove 150 miles to test it and no problems. I will update if anything changes, but I suggest if you have a P3190 code to check the fuel pressure first.

thanks for coming back and providing the happy ending.
so much for the priuschat "experts" blaming everything on 12V battery.
