Is your system hard wired into the car?

Yes and no, I came off the 12v and use an anderson connector with a breaker to the inverter. I Just went up from a 1000w modified to the 2500w pure sine. I've had no problems pulling a 1000w continuous from the car, the small battery handles the momentary surges. Haven't needed more than 1000w so far. If I need more watts for a short time does anyone see a problem clamping my 12v trolling motor battery in parallel at the inverter?

With the 1000w inverter i've made coffee then plugged in a hot plate to cook bacon and eggs then a toaster. Probably close to an hour. I've also used my double wide george foreman grill, microwave and a small air conditioner. Didn't like the sound the air conditioner made so I just got the pure sine wave.

I would say that you are getting close to the "test to destruction" process for the main 12v fuse. A 2500 watt inverter is far too large for the 12v system.

That is a Nice offer Gargio but I would be afraid of blowing a fuse in your rig.
Do you have it attached to your 12 volt or the the big battery. If it is attached to your 12 volt I am almost sure it would blow your 100 amp fuse plus some collateral damage.
And if it is attached to your track battery, I hope your alternator is NOT a 12 volt inverter because because your mega powerfully nickel hybrid track battery is NOT a 12 volt battery
I only know this because someone who knows more than me told me.

So what is it hooked up to?.

As I said it's on the 12v. I believe the prius has a 120amp fuse but even 100A × 12V = 1200W and I have a 100amp breaker. I got the 2500w for the pure sine wave, and only pulling 1000w it stays nice and cool. I'm hoping to go above 1000w, i'd like 1500w, with a big marine battery for short stretches. I know that would be pushing things so I have to get some advice and courage to continue. I'll come back and complain if something pops some day.

Gothic, sounds like you have some protection with your circuit breaker. Since you have a circuit breaker, it seems that would stop the vitamix from damaging your system. But you are further south and other side of Florida from me plus it seems like we are pretending we can break the laws of Physics. But, since you have the circuit breaker, the you can do the experiment without me by going to a good will shop or "borrowing" from Walmart for an hour and try it in the parking lot:

    Blow dryer usuallly 1500 watts

A 1500 BTU air conditioner can surge to 2500 watts

Try a higher than my 800 watt induction cooker. I think Walmart also has the higher Watt version also.

Or anything else you can google it read the label in the box in the store.

And thanks for your kind offer.

However Inget it done, I will certainly report back to the forum my results over a years time.

Oh, you said you already tried an air conditioner. How many BTU was it?
