Yeah, but sometimes things just do look like what you think they look like. One can't stop one's subconscious from seeing things that may or may not be there. A surfboard was not the first thing I saw on that can. I wasn't the first thing my wife saw either.

And yes, there are indeed many such things. Some of them really quite hilarious.

I think 'sightings' of Jesus in various farms still outnumber our apparent topic here. People see what is on their minds, if visual information can be hammered into shape.

Fellow USA folk will know of Joshua Tree NM in California. In 1950's local outrage obliged staff to dynamite a rock formation that too-strongly resembled human male sex organ.

What we are troubled by is a window into...what we are troubled by.

Farms, forms, whatever. Are you running for ProdigyPlace's role now. He's definitely my online editor and auto corrects my auto-corections.

i thought maybe there were sightings in the henhouse. plus, you don't get to question the prof too often, and i know he won't be back until tonight. you'll notice i didn't quote him. that gives him an opportunity to correct it, and makes my post look foolish. edit time might be up by now though.

When I find my own mistakes I tend to edit them (communication being of course the aim). What others find ought to stand as (tiny little) monuments to imperfection.

It's the little imperfections that make us human. Didn't a lifetime accumulating lord of 'em for myself

Recognizing imperfection is no guarantee that perfection exists. Can exist. Sigh. Pirsig is still dead...

Tochatiu sort of brought what I alluded to front and center.

Just not something I would see unless I was told to see it.

When I was at university, oh so long ago, there was a big push on the subliminal message in advertising. That the icy glass was not really an icy glass. That the rock formation was not really a rock formation.

But, you know, mostly, I think an icy glass is an icy glass....no matter what the ad people WANT you to see.

If you want to waste some time....

"Brad's drink." I was in New Bern, N.C. last week, where Pepsi was invented at an obscure pharmacy, oh so many years ago. Or that is the official story they go with there. Actually didn't even go in, though walked right past it. Looked hokier than the usual tourist trap - not my thing to get "trapped." Now I regret the decision, as a photo of the place would go very well with this post and the thread. Oh well.

The Tryon Palace and surrounding homes and gardens were good though.
