Does anyone know if the autodiming mirror from my 2006 will fit in my "new" 2012? If so, I should transfer it to my "new" 2012 before I sell or trade in the old 2006, right? I can probboly figure out the wiring from this:

Anyone know if it is simply unscrew-rescrew then wire?

I simply bought one for about $200 and had it installed (about $100). It may look about the same, but I think there was a change in the buttons so the icon won't wear away like the one in my 2004 Prius.

So.... the answer is yes. Both mirrors have the same post. They were easily swapped. However, the cheap mirror has a plastic cover that must be popped off and then a latch to slide it off, which was tricky. The auto dimming mirror slides onto the mount and secures with a screw.

Easily swapped. Next, I have to wire it.

Where is there an easily accessible power and switched power source?

Easy. If you need to buy one, it's less than $100. 2 wire install, 1 to ignition or headlight hot, other to ground.
