Why when Toyota has all the manuals on their website? There is one navigation manual for the small display and one for the "wide" one.

I think the navigation system has a lot of nice features. The routing isn't as good as Google Maps, and searching for a destination is not as easy, but I like the integration with the dash display, the audio, showing upcoming freeway exits on the right of the display, etc.

If I were working for toyota's corperate, I will use navigation route data to optimize EV-auto mode. After market nav can't do this.

Interesting, though the language on the lower right leads me to believe it won't apply to us. Nice find though!

i was trying to use the update link posted above, installed the update app and it looks for a device or SD card on the computer, so i wasn't going to use the car's card but a copy ... unfortunately copying the files did not work, got an error message that it could not read or write some files, this was on my Mac w/ElCapitan, maybe i need to try it on my Macbook w/Sierra, don't have a Windows machine.
Also explored like a little more and there are some bitmap images a well as voice data (english, spanish, french) data on the card

looked for those but nothing. stated the car without the SD card inserted and everything looked as usual, so these animations files are not on the SD

I was able to copy the content of the SD card (16GB, FAT32) onto my MacBook. I have a 64GB uSD card so i gave that a shot, formatted it w/FAT32 and copied everything back, put it in the car, but when going to the Nav app it tells me that it cannot read the card. Re-inserting the original card and all works fine. Bummer.
I also tried the process described in the link a few posts up but that app was not able to read my 64GB card either and am not going to try the original. If i ever end up with a 16GB uSD card i'll give it another try but since i do not really use the cars navi i'm not sure that i care that much.
Another Google search revealed that Garmin uses Navtech map data btw.
I still have the content of the SD on my laptop, and currently use to write this post, so if anyone has anything that they want me to search for I'll be happy to do that

Back in the DOS days (I'm old) there were commands to do an entire image copy, original formatting included. Might be worth a try. XCOPY or DISKCOPY perhaps?

yea ... the good old days :);) ... don't have a Windows machine anymore ... but the 64GB card I have (formatted w/FAT32 on Mac) is working in my digital camera except can't format it, so there might be an issue with FT32 on this card ...

Did anyone notice that the map data is provided by HERE?? That means we need to start pestering NOKIA for map updates !!! Nokia doesn't charge us on our iPhones, why are they trying to cheat us?

    Good luck, heh

Fat32 can only handle 4 gigs. You can't format 64 gig as fat32

When using Mac and windows, use EXfat
