I've removed and reinstalled the rear passenger door panel on my 2015 Prius to upgrade the speakers. In doing so, I closed the door and now cannot open the door from either the inside or outside. I realized I forgot to reseat the door handle wires in its place. I did place the ball end on the door handle but not on the grooves of the mechanism. Would anyone know of a solution? Thanks.

You'll probably have to remove the door panel from the inside with the door closed. No fun at all and I don't remember anyone describing having done so and how it was accomplished.

It might help to remove the back seat as a first step. Sorry.

With the door closed, the bottom of the door panel is sandwiched in with the door frame.

You could call a locksmith and ask for advice. There might be a tool that can get the door open.

Thanks for the help and replies.

Called a few lock smith and they said they wouldn't be able to assist. I have checked the other post too but couldn't get that method to work.

I was able to get it resolved. I had tried to maneuver a coat hanger through the handle itself behind the screw cover to try and release the cable. I was able to release the handle cable but not the lock itself on top.

I decided to have a relative who does car audio installation look at it. With the right tools he was able to fix it within 30 minutes going through the same section of the door handle. Using hook like tools similar to harbor freight he was able to get the door opened.
