anyone know how long it takes to get this unit shipped to your door?

June 16th.....I ordered
June 19th.....My bank shows they took my $135.15

June 26th.....I still don't have my unit.

PriusChat Accessories Shop doesn't mention anything about shipping times.

Do we have any success reports on this interface in a 2005 w/ nav and 6 Disk?

with the above config, is it possible to install the unit just by unplugging cables at the JBL Unit under the passenger seat?

It depends on where you live. The units are being shipped to Danny (in NC) first, and then shipped to you. The last I heard, they were to arrive last Friday. I live about 100 miles from the company (in Long Beach), so mine will be crossing the country twice. This was done to save on shipping and the cost of the DICE.

The Beta testing was done with a 2005 with the NAV and the JBL so it'll work. You do have to install it by connecting it to the radio, though.

Two questions:

(1) How would you compare the DICE and VaisTech options, and specifically what led you (price? functionality?) to go with the DICE option? (I have a 2005 Prius with nav/bluetooth, btw.)

(2) What is the status of the DICE group buy, given that this announcement was posted several months ago?

Many thanks,

Jim P.

(1) I have the same as you (2005 with/NAV JBL). I have a non-iPod MP3 player (portable CD player that would play MP3s). I use a cassette adapter for that. I also have a portable XM radio, which also uses the cassette adapter. I put off getting any AUX input device due to the price and the fact I didn't own an iPod. I was attracted to the DICE due to the price. I plan to get an iPod for my MP3s and use the AUX input of the DICE for the XM radio.

(2) As for the group buy, it's shipping now, but I don't know if anyone's received one yet.

............................VAIS............................DICE
List Price:.............$299............................$135
Nbr Playlists..........999.........................Unlimited
Songs in PL...........999.........................Unlimited
Aux.......................RCA............................1/8" and Gain/Bass/Mid/Treble control
Use iPod w/Unit......No - must chg mode......Yes - can use both controls
Artist/Album/Title...single screen 2006 MP3 only...Track Screen. Title on Playlist, album, chapter screens

There really isn't anything the VAIS offers that is worth the price difference to me. The DICE is more flexible with using the IPod controls or the MFD/wheel controls.

Although, it's my understanding that (for the 2006) the VAIS unit DOES display track info on the MFD while the DICE unit does not.

Actually I believe the DICE's regular price is closer to $179 (I know that someone went to the factory and bought one), and there's a VAIS group buy which brings it down to $220, but the DICE is still the cheaper.

So does anybody know whether the units are on the way or not? According to the post above, they were supposed to have arrived in NC last week.

Am going on a trip over the weekend and it'd be nice to have it....

Good news! The first 25 units were shipped out today via USPS Priority Mail so most of you should receive them in 1-2 days. As soon as the next shipment of units comes in, I'll package them up and ship them out.

Sorry for no notifications prior to this - I didn't want to update people's orders just to say that there is no new status change. As soon as your order ships, you'll receive an email from USPS and from the Shop letting you know that it's been shipped.

I got my email notice of that today, great. :D

I also got the recall notice in the mail today, too. Ah well, my 20K is coming up and I'll have them inspect when they do the oil.

Isn't the "List" price of the DICE $159? I went to their web site and looked into buying it and came up with $159. You are quoting the Prius Chat group buy price. VAIS had a group buy price of $209 that just ended. So they are willing to discount the price also.

There is no limitation with songs in a playlist in either the AIC-100i or SLI. When setup as a MD Changer or MP3 Disc for 2006 Prius (SLI), there is a limitation in the radio to count up to 999 songs. After this it will go to 000, 001 for 1000, 1001... I believe this is the way the DICE acts as well. It will keep playing new songs and not start from the beginning. How many numbered tracks can the DICE count?
Do you need more over 999 playlists?
VAIS got very close to counting 9999 songs, but it wouldn't act the same way on all radios so they have not added it.
I have over 2000 songs in a playlist and use it on random and it works great.
The Gain can be raised or lowered with the SLI. Has anyone tried the Bass/Mid/Treble control with the DICE? Is it useful feature?
Does the DICE work with the 3rd Gen iPods? I believe the ability to control the iPod while connected is a feature of the 4th and 5th gen iPods. Does this work on the DICE with the 3rd Gen iPods? It is my understanding that VAIS has not implemented this because it would break the 3rd Gen iPods.

I'm one of the beta testers and as I've stated in previous posts my 3G iPod works fine with the DICE. I have a 2005 BC pkg. #6.

I missed the VAIS group buy by two days. I read priuschat almost everyday and never saw it mentioned except in some thread about the DICE unit I think. VAIS said too late which surprised me. Makes me question their customer service. I'm not sure how these group buys work, but I would think it's not much of a hassle to have added my name after the fact.

Are you able to use the iPod controls with it hooked up to the DICE or just have it emulate a CD Changer?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(koa @ Jun 28 2006, 11:33 PM) </div>
VAIS has fantastic customer service. They even have their own forums so questions posted are answered by their tech support.

They delayed and extended the group buy. They are a business and have to have a cut off. I think they have some AIC-100i interfaces left. They are for a discounted price but won't work with the 2006 Prius.

My unit arrived yesterday. I'll wait until after my MFD is repaired before installing it...

Danny would you please contact me regarding my order when you have a chance. I got the "shipped" notification but there was no confirmation of the address fix we dicussed a week or so back. I have not received the unit and, while I know it's coming across country and could be delayed, if the address was incorrect I'd like to start troubleshooting that now. Sorry to bug.
