I've got a 2008 Touring with 171,634 miles on it. Pretty sure it's time for a new 12v. Doesn't seem to hold a charge, takes a long time to charge, and the milage is below average. It has a Toyota battery in it right now. Which battery should I buy? Seems like the only options are the Optima yellow top, and the Toyota OEM replacement.

I may have haters for saying this but, an '08 is 9 years old. I would find the cheapest battery, as odds are the car won't last another 9 years.

12v batteries are generally expected to last 4-5 years, and 13 or 14 years total isn't unusual for a car. Besides, the price difference between a "good" 12v battery (Optima or Toyota) and a cheap one is going to be maybe $150 max. I think it would be worth it to get a quality product.

I suppose your 12v battery lifetime may vary. The 12v battery in my 2009 Prius was replaced in 2013.

I think mine still has the OEM as well, which explains the garage milage

We replaced the 12v on our 2008 touring two weeks ago with another OEM. With just under 119,000 miles on the car and hoping to get 200,000 out of it we figured another OEM would get us there. The previous owner put 12k a year on it for 8 years. We figure we'll be putting 14 or 15k a year on it, almost all on the open highway.
